Greetings from our forward operating base deep in the back of beyond. It's hotter than hell here and I'd do anything for just one cold beer. No chance of that though, alcohol is strictly off limits! I'd also pay anything for a decent shower!

Have use of a laptop for a short while, but the connection speed is slower than an octagenerian's sexual climax. May be able to make a few posts over the next few days, if I can muster the patience to cope with the snail pace.

It's been pretty hectic over the past three months and this place comes in for regular attack. We look out across 500 yards of no-man’s land to the Taliban frontline and get peppered with RPGs, mortar and machine gun. All in a day's work though. We return more than we get.

Roll on two weeks R & R next month. A decent shave, shower, proper food and real beer instead of Adam's ale!
