Buddhist Teacher Shot in Thailand

Quote:
NA PRADU, Thailand (AP) — Muslim militants fatally shot a Buddhist teacher as he pulled out of his driveway to head to work Thursday in restive southern Thailand, police said.

Officers detained two suspects in the attack.

The teacher was going to pick up students for classes at a public primary school in Pattani province when a gunman on the back seat of a passing motorcycle opened fire, said police Lt. Ampai Chumchu.

The victim became the first teacher slain this year in Thailand's restive south, where more than 80 Buddhist teachers are among the more than 2,800 people killed since a Muslim insurgency in January 2004.
Just needed to point this out...

While people right here in America believe radical Islam is just "a few individuals" or is America's fault for "meddling" or what we do "increases terrorism" or whatever new blame they'd like to put on the US this week, over 2,800 people were killed becaue of this "bumper sticker"...

...just in Thailand...

And Buddhists are strictly non violent. The act of shooting or murdering priests should stimulate international condemnation and SANCTIONS. Maybe it is time for this country to join civilization and quit being run by a glorified war lord.

I agree. Except on one point. If the act of killing priests in specific is impetus for sanctions, then where does that leave us when we need to kill a radical muslim cleric.

As the truth about radical Islam slowly unfolds people will begin to see that their actions and agenda rate far above and beyond a bumper sticker..

Edwards slams war on terrorism as 'bumper sticker'

Quote:
The U.S.-led war on terrorism is "a bumper sticker, not a plan" that has weakened Washington's global standing, Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards said on Wednesday as he unveiled his defense policy plans.

In an address to the Council on Foreign Relations, Edwards urged the U.S. Congress to use its funding power to force an immediate pullout of up to 50,000 U.S. combat troops from Iraq, then a full withdrawal within a year.

Edwards, who was the Democratic Party's vice presidential candidate in 2004, said as president he would close the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, restore the ability of detainees to take legal action against unlawful imprisonment and ban torture.

"The war on terror is a slogan designed only for politics, not a strategy to make America safe. It's a bumper sticker, not a plan," Edwards said. "It has damaged our alliances and weakened our standing in the world."

"By framing this as a 'war,' we have walked straight into the trap that the terrorists have set -- that we are engaged in some kind of clash of civilizations and a war against Islam," said the former senator from North Carolina.

Well I missed something here. First off (in response to another post) Thailand is ruled by a King. If there is more to it than that I don't know. There could well be. I believe it's a Constitutional Monarchy or something of the sort.

I was an online friend with a young buddhist monk in Thailand, and it was a very interesting and enjoyable friendship. A 40ish American woman and a 20ish Thai Buddhist monk. It was quite rewarding and nice.

Mysteriously--as soon as 9-11 happened I never heard from him again. I mean--who knows? I could never say why--the possibilities are endless. I just know that I never heard from him again after that.

All that aside--I agree...Our country is being run by the most powerful warlord on the planet right now. DAYUM!!! I can't wait for it to get back into the hands of a semi-inept politician and out from under the entrapments of Captain War Monger Kangaroo and his Shoot You in the Face Duck Hunting Mister Green Jeans!

What a relief that will be!

Start meditating to Lama Tashis's deep voice Aum Mane Padme Hum. Take a vow of ahimsa (non violence). Eat vegetarian. Then you may realize that each act of violence is a cycle that works in cycles. It comes back to you.
