Most observers would consider Iran a theocracy since the elected president and legislature are constitutionally subject to the supervision of two offices reserved for Shia clerics: the Supreme Leader of Iran (Rahbar) and the Guardian Council, which even decide who may run for office! No..it's not a "buzz" word..it's a theocracy..

Since Bush seems to be trying his damndest to start WWIII, he might was well warn everyone else.

I'll go as far as ideology, a democratic theocracy not unlike our own electoral college. When it comes nuke bombs well that is for the big boys to play with. To bad we can not put the power seekers on an island; USA, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Israel etc.

Surly you jest..I'm one of the most prolific opponents of the EC and I don't see the comparison nor do I see Iran's theocracy as democratic..

Other nations have acquired "the bomb" against our protests. We were not at all pleased with this but we allowed it to happen. That will not be the case with Iran because of theocratic rule and all the other reasons mentioned in this thread.

When and IF they acquire nuclear capability,their days are numbered. A theocracy has got to know it's limitations and they should not put Allah to a foolish test..

Yeah. And add the word "fundamentalist" to that phrase and it's downright disconcerting. I'm not sure though that Bush's posturing is particularly helpful here. He's the proverbial diplomatic bull in a china shop. I'm sure Al quaeda would just love to see us spread even thinner trying to fight a 3rd war.

Not really...

First, Iran was found to HAVE a program...That was already against the Non-Proliferation Treaty THEY signed...

Next, Bush actually stayed out of the next proceedings altogether...The EU-3 was concerned that Bush was too "cowboyish", and they would deal with Iran directly...

They failed miserably...

Since that time, Bush has asked the Security Council at the UN to handle it...Just like they did with Saddam for 10 years, they hid behind their chairs (and drank herbal tea) while Rome burned...

The IAEA STILL doesn't even RECOGNIZE that there's an issue!!!...They still think Iran is flying kites and dancing to Lawrence Welk tunes and the world is great and flowers are everywhere...

Bush FINALLY jumped in...and what did he do?...Did he attack?...Did he chime the war bells like everyone says he would do?...

Nope...Not even close...he did the EXACT thing to do to avoid military consequences...he put sanctions on international financial institutions that actively assist Iran..."If you deal with them, then you won't be dealing with us."...

THAT is more diplomacy than the rest of the world has done put together...While everyone else stares at each other and stands in front of podiums giving thoughtful speeches and puff their chests, Bush was the ONLY person who actually did something...

Reminds me of a recent commercial where a guy at a table starts choking and everyone else at the table starts conversing about it...until the guy at the next table gets up, walks over, and gives the guy the heimlich...

I've no problem with sanctions and I've no problem with him telling the UN they need to do their job. Premature threats of war, though, are not helpful. They are inflamatory.

With regard to his "cowboy" rhetoric, most everybody (and that includes 2/3 of Americans as well) is tired of it. And what's more, he's delivering the same old song and dance to a new congress. He used "flawed intelligence" to start a second war outside of Afghanistan and he's given me no reason why I should believe him now any more than I should have the last time (which I didn't then either, btw). Sometimes I think the less he says the better off we'll all be.
