Default Rob Portman: The time is now to pass the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement

Remember the so-called impossible agreement the Trump administration forged with Canada and Mexico to replace the disastrous NAFTA treaty the Democrats used to condemn? All three governments have signed off on the new MCA agreement. The Mexican parliament has ratified the treaty and passed a package of labor law reforms demanded by Democrats.

Quote:
Now that Congress has reconvened, we’ll have a choice to make — stand by an outdated, 25-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement, or vote to pass the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement — a modern trade agreement that will create thousands of new American jobs. Democrats should be leading the charge for its passage, because they have long criticized NAFTA, and because the USMCA addresses the major concerns they have raised with NAFTA. The new USMCA adopts long-held Democratic positions on jobs, labor and environmental standards, as well as other issues.
After claiming NAFTA was hurting the American worker Democrats now attempt to bury the reforms in the MCA treaty by refusing to bring it to the House floor. Of course the Resistance media pays little attention to Speaker Pelosi's blatant expression of political animosity. The Democrats claim to be all about "reform" and fixing "broken" systems but only if they can take credit.

The Democrats love to whine about the Republican controlled House refusing to vote on the Trojan horse for amnesty bill marketed as comprehensive immigration reform but now they adopt the same tactic as if it's virtue signaling.
