Dem rep: 'Evidence is clear' that migrant child deaths are 'intentional'

Another Democrat freshman member of Congress issues a disgusting smear of the Trump administration to yawns of indifference from Democrats.

Quote:

Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Ill.) said at a Wednesday congressional hearing that she believes deaths of migrant children at the U.S.-Mexico border are "intentional."

Her comments, made to acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan as he testified to the House Homeland Security Committee, come days after the announcement that a Guatemalan teen was the fifth minor to die at the border since December.

"With five kids that have died ... the evidence is really clear that this is intentional, it's a policy choice being made on purpose by this administration and it's cruel and inhumane," the freshman Democrat, who is a nurse, told McAleenan.
Not that it matters but the Homeland Security secretary begged to differ, calling Underwood's accusations "appalling" .

Quote:

McAleenan argued that an increase in funds to the agency would have prevented the deaths. He said that the influx of people at the border is draining resources for the agency to be able to adequately respond, which is why he is asking for more money in the fiscal 2020 budget.
Never mind the massive increase in the numbers of illegal aliens presenting themselves to the border patrol with kids in tow. Ignore the health and safety risks to the kids from their parents decision to drag them along the long and perilous journey to the US so they can be used as bargaining chips to enter the US. Ignore Congressional Democrats stubborn refusal to increase resources or refusal to reform our laws to remove the incentives for illegal immigration, it's Orange man bad. :devil

Reaction to the irresponsible smear broke down along party lines. Republicans want Underwood censured but Democrats supported her.

Quote:

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), the ranking member on the committee, asked for Underwood's comments to be "taken down," according to USA Today, saying the congresswoman accused the Department of Homeland Security of committing murder. His request was approved through a 9-7 vote, raising the possibility that Underwood could be punished for her comments, according to the report.

But other Democrats backed Underwood, according to the report, with Rep. Nannette Barragán, (D-Calif.) saying she agreed the deaths were "intentional" due to Trump administration immigration policies.
With House Speaker Nancy Pelosi paralyzed with fear of the crazed Resistance freshmen it's doubtful any reform will be forthcoming. Democrats want the issue to run on more than saving children's lives saved. :rolls

Re: Dem rep: 'Evidence is clear' that migrant child deaths are 'intentional'

Democrats have long sensed passed being just stubborn and illogical. They have driven head long into insanity and out right lies. The real world facts and circumstances have no bearing whatsoever to the Democrats in our Congress. They are so focused on impeding any progress that could remotely be construed to be favorable to Trump or Republicans. They have lost their collective minds.

I am not surprised that Democrats wish to portray this administration as "cruel and inhumane." (In fact, one Democratic poster--on another forum--even went so far as to compare Donald Trump with Adolf Hitler. But for the hard left, this is what passes for rational thinking.)

Who, exactly, do you suppose is "trying to kill us citizens off" if we earn less than $500,000 per year?

I will have to confess that I never have heard that view previously...

Your comment shows the mentally defective nature of the Resistance. A member of Congress can make a horrible accusation against the Trump administration completely void of supporting evidence but your response is an angry demand they prove a negative. :rolls

Of course the evidence of sick children arriving in the US after being subjected to a 1,200 mile or more journey under horrible conditions is ignored. A reasonable response would be to look at some combination of increased funding to allow the border patrol to deal more effectively with the flood of illegals crossing our border and reforms to our asylum laws that act as a magnet for illegal immigration. Never mind the depopulation of some central American countries as their people rush to take advantage of the US open border, make another wild, unfounded accusation against the Trump administration. Ignore the fact that more than 80% of asylum applications are rejected, keep the turnstiles open for catch and release of future Democrat voters. ;) Meanwhile House Democrats cavort about eating fried chicken in the committee chambers dreaming up the next unreasonable demand of the Trump administration to avoid actual governance. :eek

Ignored completely is that Congress refused to fund for more housing, services and personnel despite the quantum increase in need.
Yet somehow misery at the border is the fault of the overtaxed staff, system, and of course the evil orange man.

your comments all show you follow the leader no matter what. remember the little boy in the boat from cuba? bet you teared up thinking of his plight to get to a free country. but that was the thinking set down by the right. this is different because it's sympathy that is coming from the left.
you have no opinions.

I remember Bill Clinton dispatching a team of heavily armed Federal marshals to rip a small boy from his family's arms to turn him over to the Cuban dictator. It's apparent from your posts you'd approve of this type of action. :thumbsup

I note the absence of any attempt to either rebut the facts around the death of the illegal alien child or any criticism of the despicable allegations made by the Democrat member of Congress. :rolls

I stated I believe there is a conspiracy to get rid of as many 'others' as possible. you believe there is one to get rid of our guns so why can't you fathom they'd take it to another level?

the little boy was here illegally. and as I said you cry for him only because your politics dictate you do. the little boys being ripped from their mothers who trump wants to turn over to a guatemalen or other latin dictator don't matter?

Zero evidence to support the smear that the Trump administration is intentionally allowing illegal alien children to die from neglect. But that didn't stop the Democrat Congresswoman from making the charge in a committee hearing. Neither did the obvious malice spur Congressional Democrats to reprimand her for her irresponsible lie. Anything goes because Orange man bad. :rolls

Attempting to deflect attention from yet another reprehensible Democrat isn't going to work. If you want to discuss the drive to take away our second amendment rights start another thread. :thumbsup

Go research the Georgia Guide Stones.

Your thought process has become a bit concerning. If one were to consider your thought process, it wouldn't be the young they would be 'killing off', it would be the old or ill.....

It's because you are trying to have a rational debate with an irrational, emotionally driven partisan. There is no rational thought involved with your debate opponent, simply feelings.
