Default Chuck Schumer’s latest attack on Trump called out for extreme hypocrisy

I seriously have no words. The level of hypocrisy just hit the stratosphere.

Chuck Schumer’s latest attack on Trump called out for extreme hypocrisy

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer attempted to criticize President Donald Trump for his attacks on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and his claim that judges are partisan — while appearing to do the exact same thing.

Trump has been in a public back-and-forth with U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who disagreed with Trump’s characterization of a judge as an “Obama judge.”

Schumer took to Twitter on Friday attempting to take Roberts side — but strangely in the same tweet accused Roberts of being a partisan judge.

“I don’t agree very often with Chief Justice Roberts, especially his partisan decisions which seem highly political on Citizens United, Janus, and Shelby,” Schumer wrote. “But I am thankful today that he—almost alone among Republicans—stood up to President Trump and for an independent judiciary.”

Confused Twitter users replied in large numbers to point out what Schumer apparently couldn’t see — that the tweet was immensely hypocritical.

Schumer started the tweet by calling out Roberts for three specific partisan decisions, and in the next sentence credited Roberts for pushing back against Trump’s accusation that judges are partisan.

Trump was frustrated earlier this week that a federal judge blocked the administration’s attempt to deny asylum to anyone who enters the U.S. illegally. Trump called the judge, Jon S. Tigar of the Ninth Circuit, an “Obama judge.”

Roberts maintained that the judiciary remains independent of politics.

“We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges,” Roberts said Wednesday. “What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them.”

Justice Kagan's background was as a staff lawyer for Democrat politicians and as Obama's solicitor general. She had almost no experience arguing cases in a courtroom but plenty of practice taking orders from Democrat politicians. But Schumer voted to confirm her to the SCOTUS bench.

Roberts is a conservative person so he may lean a little that way, but yes he helped Democracy by speaking up about this.

Robert's rewrote a major piece of Obamacare from the bench based on an arguement never raised by the Federal government. He arbitrarily declared the individual mandate penalty a tax despite the fact the government vigorously insisted it was a penalty because it doesn't fall within the Constitutional authority granted to the Federal government. As an example of how restrictive the taxation authority is consider the Federal income tax required a Constitutional amendment. But no such inconvenience as the lack of Constitutional authorization could impede the so-called Conservative justice Roberts.

Agreed...

Here's Obama coming straight out and declaring it wasn't a tax...

Quote:
STEPHANOPOULOS: …during the campaign. Under this mandate, the government is forcing people to spend money, fining you if you don't. How is that not a tax?

OBAMA: Well, hold on a second, George. Here - here's what's happening. You and I are both paying $900, on average - our families - in higher premiums because of uncompensated care. Now what I've said is that if you can't afford health insurance, you certainly shouldn't be punished for that. That's just piling on. If, on the other hand, we're giving tax credits, we've set up an exchange, you are now part of a big pool, we've driven down the costs, we've done everything we can and you actually can afford health insurance, but you've just decided, you know what, I want to take my chances. And then you get hit by a bus and you and I have to pay for the emergency room care, that's…

STEPHANOPOULOS: That may be, but it's still a tax increase.

OBAMA: No. That's not true, George. The - for us to say that you've got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase. What it's saying is, is that we're not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you anymore than the fact that right now everybody in America, just about, has to get auto insurance. Nobody considers that a tax increase. People say to themselves, that is a fair way to make sure that if you hit my car, that I'm not covering all the costs.

STEPHANOPOULOS: But it may be fair, it may be good public policy…

OBAMA: No, but - but, George, you - you can't just make up that language and decide that that's called a tax increase.
