Post Trump Asked Question About U.S. Constitution By GOP Congressman, Fails Terribly

Quote:
Donald Trump had a rather tense private meeting with Congressional Republicans on Thursday. Let’s just say, it didn’t exactly inspire confidence in the Republican nominee for president.

After the meeting, Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) spoke with reporters and admitted that Trump didn’t even seem to have a basic grasp of the U.S. Constitution, a document that all presidents are sworn to defend and assumed to have knowledge of.
“I wasn’t particularly impressed,” said Sanford. It was the normal stream of consciousness that’s long on hyperbole and short on facts.

At one point, somebody asked about Article I powers: What will you do to protect them? I think his response was, ‘I want to protect Article I, Article II, Article XII,’ going down the list. There is no Article XII.”
There is no Article XII.

According to numerous other sources, and as reported on by The Washington Post, Trump also lashed out at three senators who confronted him rather critically over concerns about his candidacy.

The exchange that perhaps stood out the most was when Senator Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) stood up and tried to speak to Trump. Immediately Trump said, “You’ve been very critical of me.”
“Yes, I’m the other senator from Arizona — the one who didn’t get captured — and I want to talk to you about statements like that” Flake responded.
Flake told Trump that he wasn’t exactly against him, but he needed reassurance if he was going to back him going into November. He stated that he wanted him to stop attacking Mexicans.

According to two Republican officials with familiarity of the conversation, Trump then threatened that he might start attacking him and it could affect his re-election bid, at which point Flake informed Trump that he wasn’t even on the ballot that year.

Afterwards, in the hallway, he told reporters he remained unswayed:
“No, I’ll just leave it. My position remains, I want to support the nominee. I really do. I just can’t support him given the things that he’s said.”
It’s no surprise, either. Many Republicans can’t. But, still, some are apologetic even when he makes critical errors.

Rep. Bill Flores (R-Tex.) offered this excuse of Trump after he flubbed the Constitution question:
“If you look at the trajectory of his unforced errors, he’s getting better. I mean, he’s not where we want him to be, but he’s getting better.”
“Getting better” doesn’t mean he’s fit to be Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.

This is more conformation. You could tell from a while back that Trump doesn't know jack about the constitution.
And he doesn't really care what it says. he just wants to "make america great"

the Constitution minded Tea Party people are No where to be seen.
Obama is a "constitutional scholar" who doesn't care about the constitution.
Trump is constitutionally ignorant and doesn't really care about it.
I'm not sure which is worse.
Both just want to force their agendas.
and their fans don't care as long as they LIKE what's being done, for them, to them or against their imagined enemies.

But Hillary probably knows the constitution pretty well.
But she's a snake who's got no concern for ANY laws... or the truth in general.

First thing that comes to mind here is the Palin/Couric 2008 interview.

AZ Senator Flake is the quintessential establishment Republican insisting that although Trump's policies won him the nomination he must betray the voters to have any chance in the general. This shouldn't be a surprise as Flake like John McCain runs as an arch Conservative then votes to give Obama everything he wants. The go along, get along Republican core of the never Trump cult simply refuse to accept the base has abandoned them.

Win or lose Trump will still have plenty of money and connections to support a primary challenger against Flake when he comes up for reelection. But Flake is convinced by the Democrat enabling media he will be protected when he runs for reelection when the reality is they will cut his political throat as soon as he has served his purpose for them.

Or more likely, they abandoned the base.

Yet another thread I start about Trump and his actions that right-wingers try to derail to talking about Obama.

I derailed nothing, the op made a comment about Trump not being fit to be C-N-C, and I pointed out that obama was not any better being C-N-C now as he was when he was elected.

I understand your confusion being a liberal and all.

Topic was Trump.
You ignored Trump's deficiency and instead want to talk about Obama.

Your honesty is suffering again.
