Republicans Have Unveiled Their 2014 Agenda: Do Nothing|Rep. Alan Grayson





Many people saw the absence of an agenda as a problem. I think that it understates the problem. My concern is that the Republicans don't know where to go, not that they don't know how to get there.
To give you an idea of where they seem to think we should go, here are some actual bills that were actually introduced by actual Republicans last year:

As if the Senate's que isn't stuffed with House passed bills Harry Reid ignores in favor of denouncing the Koch brothers.

The Senate is very busy working on the"Red Skins" naming ctisis.

After they save he world with that one, they must move onto renaming the "Apache Helicopter."

We should all send our Senators e-mails suggesting they table discussions about the "Red Skins" and concentrate on important matters first.

1) Bash Obama. For everything. Make their base mad at him to insinuate that all they have to do is get him out and the problems of the country are resolved.

On some "watch the world burn" level, it would be fascinating to get a Repub elected to the White House in 2016. And then watch their faces as nothing changes...

Really? Has the Senate ignored 40 or 50 bills to repeal Obamacare? Oh wait that doesn't count as doing anything. Senate Republicans proposed border security-related bills but Harry Reid blocks them while Obama whines about comprehensive "reform" to create millions more Democrat voters. That is doing nothing.

Of course curbing a Federal bureaucracy that be lives itself to be a conquering Roman army is doing nothing.

no it doesnt count as the stupid headed teapets have still not learned you get legislation passed with the congress you have and you send bills that are a compromise and LIKELY TO GET APPROVED by the other house and not vetoed.

The point is that Senator Reid will not allow the Senate to even consider an Obamacare repeal bill. Obama even threatened to veto a bill with the implementation delays he decreed. The Senate would rather do nothing than put it to a vote for crass political considerations.

Where was the great outcry for bipartisan bills when Obamacare was being ramming in under hijacked rules and by party line vote? Oh I forgot, compromise means giving Obama what he wants.

1. The blank paper that Eric Cantor held up was used to say they need to start on a new agenda, it wasn't as Grayson said "the new agenda."

2. He claims that republicans have all sorts of silly BS that they have tried to pass, yet he offers nothing as proof that any of that crap was in a bill passed by the House. If he has proof let him show it, otherwise he is just blowing smoke and liberal sycophants buy into. Apparently something you did.

3. Alan Grayson has been found to lie so much that it is unbelievable that he still holds office, which doesn't say much for the voters in his district.

No, Salty, not how it works. House passes a bill, it goes to the Senate. Senate can pass as read, or modify. If passed, done. If not, the bill is marked up and returned to the House, where it is again passed, or modified, or rejected. If modified, a committee of both Senate and House work out the differences. Two new votes and done, or not.

The House bills are not getting vetoed. (Veto is the President's prerogative) They are getting ignored. Harry refuses to bring them to a vote.

A true leader would bring the bills to a vote, mark them up, and return them to the House. But that would mean that Senators would then be on record as being for or against something. Can't have that.
