The reason for the grid lock is that the structure was designed that way.


We do not need to fix the structure, just remove the current tenants.

Wrong. Trains are designed to go and stop. Because something is designed to stop does not mean the was the main design of the train.

2) The rhetoric...

You think anyone wants to work out a deal with a side that has people on the floor of Congress saying the other side wants seniors to die quickly?...That a more Conservative group within a party are worse than terrorists?...And then there are, of course, the Hitler references...

"Republicans want every regulation thrown out!!!" is a lie...

"Democrats want everyone to get a welfare check!!!" is a lie...

Neither statement helps anything but their own, shallow self-esteem to make themselves feel like they have a clue...When they don't...

When the PREMISE is wrong from the start, every that follows will be equally wrong...

3) The scoreboard...

After every situation where something like a budget deadline or debt ceiling gets reached, what is the FIRST THING bloggers, supporters, the politicans themselves...and ESPECIALLY the f**kin' media do?...

Decide who "won" and who "lost"...

They'll NEVER get the little truthful nugget that if you keep saying "My political opponent lost!!!!" over and over again, the LAST thing they'll ever want to do is negotiate in good faith ever again...
It's the spin doctors who keep us a part. limbaugh and maddow types. and of course lobbyists. plus americans are viewing politics as a team sport complete with tv events.

I do think your idea of many Americans seeing this as a team sport would only apply to the hard core of both parties.

People I speak with are sick of nothing being done and of all this carp talk from the POTUS to Boner & company.

Doing nothing but getting paid is a slight to we the people, and I mean those whom are not party die hards.

Clearly obvious is that you are oblivious to the meaning of my post. Or the construction of our government. Not your fault. You are a product of a public education system which apparently taught you nothing useful.

At least not about our government.

The founders intended for the legislative process to be slow. They did not give the executive branch any legislative power because that's how depots rule.

The constitution is a construction. The engineers were geniuses.
It shows in their work.

I prefer a do nothing Congress. It is activist Presidents and activist Court judges which give me worry.

After three campaigns to win seats in congress and one Senate win I spoke with my friend Senator Jim Talent. I ask him to go to Washington and do nothing.

"I can't" he responded.

"Why not" I asked

"We have to do the work of the people to get re-elected."

He went on to help GW Bush virtually double the size of government. I did not assist in his next endeavor.


THERE IS NOTHING IN THE CONSTITUTION THAT SAYS CONGRESS HAS TO DO ANYTHING BUT AUTHORIZE PAYMENT OF THE BILLS> GRIDLOCK MEANS THEY WON'T INVENT ANY MORE EXPENSES TO GET RE-ELECTED>

Well you have your opinion as do I. Yet some others would not agree as some of our business needs doing, like it or not. Plus I said I spoke to others and what they felt. So I was speaking/typing not only for myself or my own opinion.

Yet I can see some light in what you said.

This ridiculous comment about preferring a do nothing congress is getting old and a thin cover for a do nothing congress. It was cute for a while but isn't really anymore.

It strikes me the same way. We've had 535 men and women, that for over 200 years, have been doing nothing but dreaming up new laws.

If you ask me, we have enough laws.
