This whole rule change was done for one purpose ... To fill the vacant seats in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, the second most important court in the country. By filling up 7 of those seats with Liberal leaning judges they are protecting the Majority of the country from Conservative extremists possibly undoing decades of court rulings and taking the clock backwards to the days before Roe vs. Wade , Voting rights, Gay rights, and any other issue conservatives oppose. The Democrats realize the fact that Neither Party has won three terms in the White house since Reagan/Bush I so there is a possibility that the GOP may win the White House in 2016 and proceed to fill the courts with lifetime appointed Conservative extremists who would take us back to the dark ages in due time. By changing the rule and filling those vacancies now they are setting up the court system to lean Liberal for years, possibly through a GOP term in the White House.

It was funny today listening to turtleneck McConnell spout his lies about how the GOP has been fair and worked with the Dems to confirm many Judges and other appointees.

I do think the rule change was a bad Idea, but a necessary change in order to get back to a working Government.

This kind of thing can go both ways, power swings back and forth and I feel like it's a bad thing for the country. Our government is a complete joke, people like Reid, Pelosi, and lots on the right are total creeps who never have our best interests in mind.

That is a fact. It's all politics all the time anymore as though it's a team sport instead of what it's supposed to be.

Senator Levin D. of Mich. gave a good speech in opposition to the new filibuster rule.

Not sure why the Constitution should be resting in peace, the Filibuster rule isn't in the constitution, never was in the constitution.

According to him, the rule could have been restructured or actually used in a way that would force the "threatening filibusterer" to go ahead and filibuster and let the vote go forward. And to make the filibuster stand in the floor and actually filibuster (which is sometimes lately not done), said these things would be better than changing the rule altogether.
