Default Congressional Ethics Probe Adds to Michele Bachmann’s Political Woes

Quote:
Eighteen months ago, the Minnesota House member was considered an unlikely but undeniable Republican rising star, winning the Iowa straw poll that unofficially begins the primary season. Today, she is embroiled in a litany of legal proceedings related to her rolling disaster of a presidential campaign—including a Office of Congressional Ethics investigation into campaign improprieties that has not previously been reported.

The Daily Beast has learned that federal investigators are now interviewing former Bachmann campaign staffers nationwide about alleged intentional campaign-finance violations. The investigators are working on behalf of the Office of Congressional Ethics, which probes reported improprieties by House members and their staffs and then can refer cases to the House Ethics Committee.

“I have been interviewed by investigators,” says Peter Waldron, a former Bachmann staffer who’s embroiled in his own fight with his former boss, involving his allegations of pay-to-play politics and improper payments by the campaign—making him one of several members of Bachmann’s inner circle who’ve fallen out with the woman they once hoped would become commander in chief. While he was careful to avoid specifics in regard to the investigating body, Waldron said that “investigators came [and] interviewed me and are interviewing other staff members across the country.”

Two other former staffers confirmed the existence of the investigation this weekend, and on Monday Bachmann’s campaign counsel, William McGinley, of the high-powered firm Patton Boggs, confirmed that the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) was looking into the congresswoman’s presidential campaign last year.

“There are no allegations that the Congresswoman engaged in any wrongdoing,” McGinley said. “We are constructively engaged with the OCE and are confident that at the end of their Review the OCE Board will conclude that Congresswoman Bachmann did not do anything inappropriate.”
Exclusive: Congressional Ethics Probe Adds To Bachmann?s Political Woes - The Daily Beast

Michelles big problem was her mouth. Until I read this article today I did not realize that she got her information from WND, that's scary. She is an intelligent woman, but to use a dubious source for facts is unexplainable and inexcusable.

OK, that aside, it appears that most of the investigation is focusing on her people rather than her, although ultimately she is responsible for what they did while in her employ. So this left me wondering if the so called ethic panel, (I chuckle every time I hear Congressional Ethics Committee,)will they do as they usually do when a congresscritter gets caught with their hand in the cookie jar, just give her a slap on the wrist like they did with Rangel and Maxine Waters?

No, her big problem is she is a nut. No one of normal intelligence and sane uses such soruces in public, nor really believes them in private. Kinda like when Bohner never talked about F&F being an attempt to control guns in America. He knew the RWers were repeating it over and over in the right wing coputer sphere, but he knew it was not true so he didnt say it. She cant tell the differenece.

Bachman doesn't have the right politics to escape the inquisition. Rangel gets a slap on the wrist for his personal actions and Waters gets excused. But Bachman is to be held personally responsible for the actions of her campaign staff.

Of course President Obama and his Cabinet are excused when they blame lower level officials for F&F and Bengazhi. President Obama blocked the F&F investigation with executive privilege when it got too close to home and refuses to provide information on his actions during the Bengazhi crisis. But it's all good, only the "unintelligent" insist on the facts, true thinkers accept the OA's spin without question.

She is being investigated. Should she be or not? Stop dragging the same BS into every thread. Should she be investigated or not? That is all this thread is about. FUQ

When a comment includes a quote of another comment, it is a response to the quoted comment. Stop commenting as a small child interrupting a conversation between grownups.

There is no objection to investigating Bachman's campaign in the comment. It is a rebuttal to characterizing her as a "nut" because she recognizes the end goal of F&F.

There absolutely no evidence F&F was a plan to grab American guns. Insisting on reapeating a claim with no evidenece does call ones sanity into queistion. Thus, she is a nut.
