But some states do not want concealed guns-others believe it is their right.
Personally I like the idea, but still considering other viewpoints.
Only 2 states, Washington and Illinois, and DC ban carrying concealed outright. Prohibition is an outlier policy. The House sought to regularize the treatment of CCW's issued by other states in every state. Clearly the 2 states with prohibitions are out-of-step with the other 48. As for DC, they are clearly bent on nullifing the 2nd amendment alltogether.

In my life time that has not always been the case. I think the jury is still out on it in my mind anyway.

What drama? It's a simple straightforward point, in question form. If open carry is not allowed and concealed carry is not allowed - I'm restricted from exercising my rights as a person.

Would it be okay if they restricted your speech from state to state? How about what you can read in each state or whether you can go to your church in their state?

You may think the 2nd amendment is silly, fine - don't own or carry firearms. If you want to change it, do so through the proper process - not through regulation.

The right to bear arms is unalienable. Anal retentive control freaks who have a morbid need to tell other people how to live, and those desiring a dictatorship over free men will of course need to disarm the people before anything can happen in their favor. Anybody can take my weapons who personally knocks on my door, without resorting to Big Brother for permission to do so. He does it at his own peril. Anybody in Big Brother's name who carries the fantasy warrant to relieve me of my weapons without criminal cause, is carrying out an illegal order like a good organ grinder's monkey, and nothing more. I need say no more.

Really? Now what do I do with the CCW that I just renewed? I carry concealed here in Washington State every day.

As far as I recall, Washington is a "shall issue" state.

I must have used an out-of-date source. Thanks for the update. That means only the President's home state is out of step with the rest of the country.

My city also allows open carry. But I don't advise trying it,

Surely, because our little town is filled with people who don't know the law and would freak out if they saw a gun on a citizen's hip.

Next thing you know, the call would go out over the police radio that some citizen was walking around town flaunting a gun. Donuts and coffee would be tossed from cop cars and twenty squad cars with lights and sirens blaring from every juristiction would flood to the scene, guns drawn.

I know the town that I live in, very well. We might be innocent until proven guilty, but you might sustain some bruises before you can prove it, if you know what I mean.
