I have to wonder if this list is sourced well - where did it come from?

That's cute. First you say, "So what" then next post..."oh but I need to check your sources".

I believe the link I gave you is a stored page from the home site of the Democratic Socialists of America. Here's their home page.

Dem Soc of America - American Socialist Voter

The one on Scribd looks like it might be their FAQs, but FAQs are blanked out now. I'm wondering if they pulled it. Too late whatever it is it's stored on Scribd now.

You're right though, I originally found the story on a right wing blog.

It strikes me as something that needs more validation...when I see something like that -- it's too politically "good to be true" for one side or the other...seems fishy.

You may be right, you know. That was in the back of my mind too. Why isn't this on every blog out there? Sometimes they wait to double-check credibility, then eventually it spreads.

I wouldn't expect to see it on the MSM though, unless it becomes a big blog story, then gets picked up by Fox.

Here's the way it was originally written up though.

The Socialist Party of America announced in their October 2009 newsletter that 70 Congressional democrats currently belong to their caucus.

Ok...that seems easy to check. I went to the DSA site and they have their Fall 2009 newsletter here: http://www.dsausa.org/dl/Fall_2009.pdf

I didn't see any list of names and I did a search on 70, Congress, Caucus, Democrats and did not come up with anything stating what that blogger claimed (admittedly I didn't read through the whole thing - boring! )

I didn't click the link, but I'm not sure why you would expect to find information on a 2010 newsletter in one for 2009.

The Socialist list does look similar to one on the Congressional Progressive caucus.

Congressional Progressive Caucus

What does that mean, if anything? I don't know.

It's interesting to read down the list of comments at Gateway Pundit. As the day goes on people either become more skeptical, or more skeptic types begin to arrive.

Smaller blogs are starting to link to the story, but nothing from the big names yet. You'd at least expect something from BigGovernment.com Jim Hoft of GatewayPundit cross-posts with them sometimes. If BigGovernment is shy of the story, what does that say? Maybe things will break one way, or the other tomorrow, or next week though.

Go to the comments though.

Scroll down to the poster BG. He offers a number of links to this blog.

Congressional Socialists No Longer in the Marxist Closet RBO

The guy makes a pretty good case for the Progressive-Socialist connection, and the DSA's recent desire to start coming out of the closet. Just something to think about.

Again though, I'm starting agree with you more and more. It's too early to take this as some sort of accepted fact.
