Default No U.S. Flag in Haiti

The Obama Apology Tour Continues: No U.S. Flag in Haiti | The Foundry: Conservative Policy News.
Quote:
France’s tricolor, Britain’s Union Jack and even Croatia’s coat of arms have been lifted above those nation’s installations in Haiti. But in the United States camp, “whose contributions dwarf the rest of the world’s,” no flag is allowed to fly. Why? The Obama administration has forbidden it.
Quote:
The Obama administration says flying the flag could give Haiti the wrong idea.

“We are not here as an occupation force, but as an international partner committed to supporting the government of Haiti on the road to recovery,” the U.S. government’s Haiti Joint Information Center said in response to a query about the flag.
I'm wondering if France, Britain & Croatia are giving Haiti the wrong idea?
Are they there as an occupying force?

"Everybody in the world knows the U.S. is there," Hollenbaugh said. "So by not flying the flag, we're not changing anyone's mind about anything."
Why would it be necessary to "change" anyone's mind about anything?
Are other countries with their flags flying worried about changing anyone's mind?
Do they fear being seen as an occupying force?

If American's are serving abroad; whether it be the military or relief volunteers & we set up camp; fly the American flag & not worry about what others think --- because as Don Hollenbaugh states: "...by not flying the flag, we're not changing anyone's mind about anything."

Pretty pathetic and petty...

It's a shame we have someone in office who considers himself a citizen of the world more than a citizen of the United States...

Deep down he's just upset that our aid missionaries can't fly the Kenyan or Indonesian flag openly...

Again this man disrespects what this country stands for, our involvement in world matters and disasters is not about "occupation" but a presence that is felt (not so happily in some places) the world over.

If you don't believe in what this country stands for, then step down. Do not continue to disrespect it's citizens, volunteers and military by denying who we are. For once, be PROUD of our involvement, dammit.

Or maybe he just knows his world history and is sensitive to tiny nations' distrust of us.

Can you be for real? If they "distrust" us as such, then what the hell are our tax dollars doing over there helping them? Trying to buy goodwill?

NO. Americans (both paid and volunteer) are there as assistance. The other nations fly their flags, everybody KNOWS the USoA is there, NOT flying our flag, IMO, is once again disrespecting those Americans who are there, saying, don't tell anyone we are here...
