Bush and Obama took measures to prevent that happening. You have to think in the abstract. It didn't happen. Hopefully with the encouraging numbers it won't happen.
You can't go by the old 2003 thinking. The game has changed. We are keeping our nose out of the water at present and surviving the flood. There won't be any dry land spotted for awhile.

Roosevelt at first didn't have as aggressive a plan to stimulate jobs, save people from starving in vast numbers, and prevent the total collapse of our civilization. He tried some stop gaps then when things weren't getting any better, actually a lot worse he fired the old guy and brought in a new one and a new plan. That plan saved lives and created jobs, It also taught us we needed a safety net for old people. that brought about Social Security.
The Bush administration and the Obama administration studied the Great Depression to avoid such happening in the present day. I believe they both will be given credit for saving our azz whether you guys give them immediate points or not.
