Republicans pushed the "fear" button, and I'm wondering if I can get any anti-Obama-ites to admit how wrong the "Obama's going to take our guns" craze really was...
Nah. They're just jumping on to the next fear...
Obama and the Dems are too busy trying to claim sovereignty over our flesh in the form of "health care" legislation to be bothered about gun laws just now.

People oddly seem to overlook this aspect of government intrusion into the medical field.

His record showed that he would. So you think Obama wouldn't ban private gun ownership over night if he could? I don't think the fact that he hasn't tried is enough to say he won't. It's more like marxism by incrementalism than anything else. If you goal is to eliminate our freedoms you don't do it all overnight. You're more likely to do it overnight in a socialist country than here, because socialist are inherently use to bending over for their government.

It's not that hard to figure out.
So why didn't happen when Bush was in? Or when gas prices went through the roof?

Actually, Obama supports the Second Amendment......

Your claim is bogus.......

Quote: "If you’ve got a gun in your house, I’m not taking it,’’ Obama said. But the Illinois senator could still see skeptics in the crowd, particularly on the faces of several men at the back of the room.

So he tried again. “Even if I want to take them away, I don’t have the votes in Congress,’’ he said. “This can’t be the reason not to vote for me. Can everyone hear me in the back? I see a couple of sportsmen back there. I’m not going to take away your guns.’’

If you think "health care costs" are a fear tactic, then you're deluding yourself.
It's a bona fide problem.
The fear tactic worked on you.

I stand corrected, the fear tactic is all about AGW.

Huh?
Mind elaborating on that one?
The skyrocketing costs of health care are well documented.
The effects of these high health care costs are also well documented.

Are you saying you don't think health care has a problem?

??
Anthropogenic Global Warming?

Like I said, both sides have their evidence they point to.
To try and compare evidence to just plain fear is not rational.

That's only half the issue...

When questioned on the very statement you've shown, Obama fudged...

While Obama does not personally want to take your guns away from you, he actually ENDORSES city and local municipalities doing that exact thing in his place...

Respect 2nd Amendment, but local gun bans ok

Quote:
Q: You said recently, “I have no intention of taking away folks’ guns.” But you support the D.C. handgun ban, and you’ve said that it’s constitutional. How do you reconcile those two positions?

A: Because I think we have two conflicting traditions in this country. I think it’s important for us to recognize that we’ve got a tradition of handgun ownership and gun ownership generally. And a lot of law-abiding citizens use it for hunting, for sportsmanship, and for protecting their families. We also have a violence on the streets that is the result of illegal handgun usage. And so I think there is nothing wrong with a community saying we are going to take those illegal handguns off the streets. And cracking down on the various loopholes that exist in terms of background checks for children, the mentally ill. We can have reasonable, thoughtful gun control measure that I think respect the Second Amendment and people’s traditions.
