I disagree. I think when you look at the entire 8 years of bush, its difficult to ever say there was a booming time.
C'mon Redd...I know that you know that a booming "market" doesn't necessarily translate into a booming economy. All that a booming market means is that corporations are selling well. That may be good for the corporation and for the shareholders, but it often does not translate into a good economy.
What we had during Bush was nothing more than an inflated bubble. There was never any "real" economy underneath it. That's why things were so bad when the bubble burst.
If you look at real wages during Bush...they fell every year.

Well we'll keep that false impression you have in mind.

In the meantime why not look into how many months of continuous growth occurred during the Bush term.

You have to refer to Bush when evaluating Obama. First you have to compare with the most rtecent example. And you also have to remember that rarely in our history has one POTUS handed such a crumbling mess to the next in line. I doubt if Obama would have done half of what he has had to without having to take extaordinary
measures

When will you people acknowledge that no one forced Obama to take this job and he knew what he was getting. He was in the legislature for 2 years prior to running. You know where they institute policy and budgets and spending.

And rarely? How about Carter to Reagan? How about Clinton to Bush43, then it was the dot.com bubble bursting versus the real estate, a budget in deficit, 3 out of 4 months negative growth, falling revenues and THEN 9/11.

So to try to excuse Obama's failure on Bush is getting quite tiresome and phony.

Neither one was close to being the disaster Obama was handed. Nowhere close.

Handed to him by Democrats, no less. Things weren't great during the last four years of the Bush admin., but it was when the Dems. took Congress that things really went downhill. Basically, the Dems. took a declining economy and drove it full tilt into the ground. You want to blame everything on the Reps., but if you look at things from the perspective of who controlled Congress instead of who controlled the WH, then it's the Dems. who handed him the mess he's in, not the Reps.

Oh yeah they were and in fact the economy at the Reagan/Carter switch was much worse. Double digit inflation, double digit interest rates, similar unemployment.

And neither Regan, Clinton nor Bush43 were in the Senate for two years prior to taking on the Presidency, in the Senate where they could have done something.

What did Obama do before he became President to stem the economic downturn?

Obama KNEW what he was getting into, his protest now ring extremely hollow.

Am I wrong?? Didn't things go downhill really fast once the Dems. took control of Congress?? Congress has far more to do with budget than the WH, so why is the blame laid at Pres. Bush's feet exclusively?? How about we start putting it where it belongs in this area and start making it Congress's fault??
