Hell, I'm just happy to have a laptop, with very few bells and whistles to get me on the internet.
Windows 10 Home Edition.
Windows Defender.
Spectrum in-home WiFi.
Most of my PC problems I now find out are because one items is failing. The old and now replaced Router...

So far even the Auto Type hasn't bugged me. Seems my mbps have picked back up..

So Lollie, how could I know what was causing all the different problems? But by asking and playing with items.. Plus I haven't had years of problems just of late dear...

I would like to say all who offered help or advise.. And even those that mocked my pains.

I got it all worked out...

Not really as I did lose my sound devce drver some how in all this.

So I looked into t and MS did a check and told me to restart. This was after I loggin in ths mornng.

I did the restart and the PC would not go back on.. I after several attempts got into several repair options.
I tried each one. Then went to the first choice I had avoided. "System Restore"

But I have the Cox Tech guy coming around 5 to 7 PM so I needed to get back online.
I knew I would get back my sound and the old auto type problems to boot.. Sure enough as you see above it worked and I am in the misery, yet have sound..

Interesingly, Avast free version did a scan of my system a couple hours ago. Turns out I have the very same problem. If I will just send them $1.99/month they can fix it for me.

Verizon and Comcast have reprogrammed my (their) router remotely a couple times. Can't Cox do that?

I like the paid version as it has a lot more options, yet still lack some of what made Norton slightly better. I could with Norton run a quick scan plus have it shut the PC off when it was done. Avast can't do this yet.

they can but I needed to get into the Router Site to add a password to protect it..

As the standard which Avast caught and wanted resolved [is User name "admin" and the password is "password"[/I] Which isn't much protection.

What cause my auto type to return was having to use the Restore Point br[Ing the PC back to 15 July. [/I]

Maybe the next M$ update will help with this.

I've got some problems since I loaded the update. One of which is bad sound. + a dll not correctly loaded.

Like you, I'm hoping the next update will fix it.

Ya jimbo I also think these M$ updates are a big part of some PC users problems.. As others over time have mentioned about the same.

<Like right then, typing "problems" The keys when pressed don't print as fast, so I had a mess of a word till corrected.>

See I solved the sound issue by doing a 15 July RESTORE POINT.. But in doing so Updates were affected.

This auto type might be because of the need for a new keyboard.. Y'think?

Hope so because I just punch the keys and play with what ever comes on screen
