Wondered why I was getting Chicago's weather reports on my email homepage this morning.

Then a while ago, it was Montreal Canada.. wth?
Enough of that. I disconnected it.

Right now Windows Defender seems to be doing it's job.
Note added; I recommended it also to my son and he said it blocked him from Facebook until he figured it out.

Lurp, I have to use wifi where I am.

Hey Lollie do you do an update on Window Defender when you come on line?

I did one a bit ago when I came online and it was from 0547 am. They do update in auto but that might take you being on line for 20 minutes or more before it does.

I run a scan and check for updates almost daily.

I lost the Windows Defender as it failed to update correctly so I d/l Avast free.

But it doesn't run a scan and at the end shut off the PC.

whoa. I'd run malware bytes
or better yet take it to your favorite geek (repairman)
neither of those things should have happened
there are certain viruses that chum up you cleaning software
you may not notice a problem but if it runs slow it could be cause they are using your computer to jump on to another one or to run something w/o you knowing
happened to me once.

Avast's scans are very fast. It doesn't shut down the computer afterwards, true, but you could do a scan while eating dinner and it's done.

Well last week I downloaded the Avast Freeware Anti Virus and it updates great.

But one thing that does bother me is how it checks out your P.C. and then tells you the P.C. has problems but offers no way of actually doing the needed repairs unless your tech savvy.

Ya I dumped a lot of temp files and some others but no where near the 4 GB it says I need to remove. I got 235 MB at best.

And the list went on and I wasn't aware I even had these programs. I got rid of Web Root over a year ago. and found it left a few add on's after the deleting. I had disabled them yet Avast says I need to disable them.

And still the long list went on about 14 items in all and none I know a thing about. UGH!

Smart Scan is a pain... ... So I do the full scan which is slow but better.

Any others here have this same situation?

Avast users does any of you have the paid Avast Security? I am thinking of upgrading mine.

And would like to know if it has a way to do all the cleaning of unresolved items
like I get noticed that I have 3.5 GB of crap and I hit resolve and there are this list but no way to clean up in one click. It offers me (once) a Avast Clean Up Tool for for a monthly payment.

I noticed long ago cheap products do that finding many items that can be removed and then try to sell you the tool to do it with.

I just did a search for clean up utilities and wonder if any one here uses any of these.. And if the M$ Clean Up Utility might be best on a Windows PC?

in advance

One can also set each browser to do this upon closing. In Options.
