Clemens, Pettitte named in Mitchell report - Yahoo! News

Quote:
NEW YORK - Seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens and Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte were the first names to emerge Thursday from the Mitchell report.

ESPN.com reported Brian McNamee, a former trainer for the Yankees and Clemens, told investigators he supplied Clemens and Pettitte with steroids and that information is in the report. The Web site cited an unidentified source close to the trainer.

The report by Mitchell will include names of 60 to 80 players linked to performance-enhancing substances...
As much as people will vilify individuals, I will still hold MLB accountable for looking the other way during a time when they were reaping the benefits of the results of these players' actions...:

I agree...

my statement in the shoutbox --- Clemens & Pettitte belong with Bonds was really just bait...

where do they all belong...?...

the hall of fame

they have the numbers & mlb allowed them to participate while taking performance enhancing drugs. this all could have been avoided if Bud Selig had wanted to...

This will get juicy as it goes on. I know that there will be denials, of course. But who is going to believe the named players?

Yup...I actually had that argument before elsewhere about Bonds...

But then when questions arise as to the activities behind the scenes, they take off their blindfolds and say "I'm sorry...I was asleep the last 6 years...WHAT?...People did bad things?...Say it ain't so!"...

That's my very same argument I used when I was asked a couple of weeks ago if Bonds should go to the Hall of Fame..."Absolutely"...

The guy's veins in his head look like they were going to rupture until I gave my explanation...

Bonds in the Hall will be a constant reminder to the League office that they are to blame for the disgrace of him being there...

And I hope it gives them heartburn for the rest of their damn lives...

Steroids should be a requirement for baseball players. It is the only thing that has kept it alive. Without all those home runs their ratings would have already fallen.

I think watching baseball is one step away from death. So anything that can jazz it up is OK with me.

the sentiment on TV today was that this will do nothing to harm baseball because people want to see 100mph pitchers & homeruns hit 500ft.

I guess I'm old school...

I still like to see a good pitcher who may not even hit 90mph go against a batter who forces him to throw 10plus pitches & finally dink one into right center...then the lead-off...& all the things that make up "small ball."

I like to see a pitcher throw junk --- curve, slider, change-up, sinker, etc...& a batter who can fight them off until he gets the pitch he's looking for...

...double plays...diving catches...base stealing...head first slides...squeeze play...

that's baseball...& it's exciting...

Just think about players who are still in the minors or out of baseball altogether because someone took their spot on the team when they refused to harm themselves longterm physically to help their career...

Cheaters took contracts AWAY from people who decided to be legit and not take a chance on becoming another Lyle Alzado...
