Exclamation CERN scientists 'break the speed of light'

CERN scientists 'break the speed of light'

site fairly good one for fewer pop-ups etc.

Other teams will have to duplicate this but if true dispels a part of Einstein's theory. he got busy with other stuff i.e. relativity, the bomb...

read it; easy read; good article.

Light would have covered the distance in around 2.4 thousandths of a second, but the neutrinos took 60 nanoseconds - or 60 billionths of a second - less than light beams would have taken.

"It is a tiny difference," said Ereditato, who also works at Berne University in Switzerland, "but conceptually it is incredibly important. The finding is so startling that, for the moment, everybody should be very prudent."
So the scientist keeps his head and says we shouldn't jump the gun here...
...as the headline reads, "CERN scientists 'break the speed of light'"...

How friggin' "prudent" is it to make a declaration that hasn't even been peer reviewed yet?!?!?!

Somehow I couldn't place the speed of light at exactly 186,000 miles per second.

Time travel?

NAAAAA!

So, now it's a faulty wire that caused a booboo in the measurement of the speed of light?

I, now, have a new favorite scientist...

What a horrible website. This was from 2011 and the update was from 2012. But at the top of the page it said Friday 25 October 2019. But when I went back to it again it said Saturday 26 October 2019.

Just stay off the site all together. It's awful.
