Trump Uses Winter Storm to Mock Climate Change, Confuses Weather and Climate Again

Globally, surface temperatures have warmed in all seasons and virtually all latitudes over the last 20 to 30 years, with the most notable exception being winters across much of the United States, northern Europe and northern Asia.

While much of the United States was cold Sunday, that's less than 2 percent of the world, the Associated Press points out. Earth was about 0.9 degrees (0.5 Celsius) warmer Sunday than from 1979-2000, according to the University of Maine’s Climate Reanalyzer, the AP reported.

The Union of Concerned Scientists, a non-profit group of 250 scientists, analysts, policy and communication experts, explains: “Even though the planet is getting warmer, cold weather still happens in winter or at very high elevations or high latitudes year-round. Northern hemisphere winter weather patterns are a complex interplay between the upper atmosphere conditions over polar regions and mid-latitude conditions over the oceans and on land.”

Sunday wasn't the first time the president expressed skepticism about global warming because of the weather. In November he tweeted: “Brutal and Extended Cold Blast could shatter ALL RECORDS,” he wrote. “Whatever happened to Global Warming?”

Around the time of that tweet in November, over the Thanksgiving holiday, the White House released the National Climate Assessment by scientists from 13 of the Trump administration's agencies and outside scientists. The report clashed with the president's past statements and tweets on the legitimacy of climate change science, how much of it is caused by humans and how cyclical it is.

"Over shorter timescales and smaller geographic regions, the influence of natural variability can be larger than the influence of human activity ... Over climate timescales of multiple decades, however, global temperature continues to steadily increase, the report said.

It went on to say: “Climate change is transforming where and how we live and presents growing challenges to human health and quality of life, the economy, and the natural systems that support us."

Citing numerous studies, the climate report says more than 90 percent of the current warming is caused by humans. Without greenhouse gases, natural forces — such as changes in energy from the sun — would be slightly cooling Earth.

"There are no credible alternative human or natural explanations supported by the observational evidence," the report says.

Climate change and weather are linked. look it up.

AS for Climate change,it si academic to most average day to day citizen lives. But weather is very much experienced by them

Fact, the last two years the mean average planet temps have lowered.

Fact, the Ice Melt predicted sea rise of ten feet never happened.

Fact the Hockey Stick rise reported in the nineties was a NASA mistake/fraud few average Americans understood, much less experienced first hand.

Except by what they felt in local weather. So President Trump explained it in terms to which they could relate. It is the elitist who insist on conflate the two sciences to confuse and confound the logic employed by us knuckle draggers who live and work, not in the theoretical world of political power gains, but in the reality of observable facts.

The Union of Concerned Scientists displays its adherence to the scientific method by claiming there is no other credible explanation for climate change, a phenomenon that has been going on for hundreds of thousands of years, besides its pet theory. That's the antithesis of the scientific method but fodder for Resistance zealots.

It is 7 Degrees F outside this morning in St Peters MO. If the ice caps are melting it is because, as of this morning, the COLD is in the wrong location on the planet.
These concerned scientist have told me it has nothing to do with Climate change.

Still, one might ask,,,,;
Can someone on the Concerned Scientist team explain how we could relocate this frigid air north to where it is needed by the reduction of burning fossil fuels?
