Default Milk Way Galaxy eating smaller galaxies and other bad news

Most likely not in our life time yet doomed to happen millions of years from now.

This has been happening and only recently discovered.... Great documentary I saw on this last evening. It was 2 hours long.

Is it because of global warming?

hmmm, Yeah.

I say hmm because as a layperson looking at these reports, papers and predictions there's a lot of questions i have.
Generally concerning the "certainty", the basis for and the seeming contradictions and such.

Here's a quote from one article about the coming galactic merger.

Quote:
"The solution came through Hubble measurements of the motion of Andromeda galaxy, known as M31. The galaxy is now 2.5 million light-years away, but it is inexorably falling toward the Milky Way under the mutual pull of gravity between the two galaxies and the invisible dark matter that surrounds them both.
“After nearly a century of speculation about the future destiny of Andromeda and our Milky Way, we at last have a clear picture of how events will unfold over the coming billions of years,” said Sangmo Tony Sohn of STScI."
this is sort of what crosses my mind as i read that
-OK, so it's only through Hubble that a "CLEAR" picture of this event has come. So what did they think and tell us before?

-Ok so Andromeda is "inexorably falling toward the Milky Way" But I thought they said the universe was "expanding" so in what sense are 2 maybe 3 galaxies hitting each other as the universe SPREADS?

-Ok so the mutual pull of gravity between the two galaxies and the invisible dark matter that surrounds them both plays a part but NOT enough to stop "expansion"? And even though they haven't REALLY detected ANY dark matter, they claim that they KNOW it's there, and somehow can accurately measure what it's effects ARE and what it WILL BE millions/billions of years from now? really?

-OK so for 100 years they've been Guessing about what might happen to Andromeda and our Milky Way.

But NOW they are supposed to be pretty "CLEAR".
Even though they can't even explain WHY the milky way galaxy even has spiral arms. Since based on their calculations of gravity and "dark matter" etc the arms should have wound into the center in only millions of years of its billions of years existence.

And when Hubble was used to look "back in time" to the most distant galaxies they expected to see "young" galaxies but they all look EXACTLY like the OLD galaxies we know of already that are supposedly multiples of billions of years older.
But none of that matters because TODAY they are somehow "CLEAR" what will happen to the Milky Way and Andromeda billions of years now?

so yeah basically, hmmmm

Very interesting stuff but, not a lot we can ever do about it.
So,

Hmmmm, seems appropriate.

Jus' sayin'

True, not much we can do about the movement of galaxies.
that's for sure.
But we can question the scientist on their pronouncements and assertions about it, if they don't seem to add up.

As well we should. As well that scientists, honest real scientist, question each other.

They cannot make the science add up on Global warming either. Because what scientists tell us it their "theories " on what they surmise is going on.

But in very small increments, mankind is somehow learning about the magnificent creation since the words were said. "let there be light"
