Another resource. But late to the party... :-(

Plug in your zip code. It'll tell you the percentage of eclipse you'll see and where to travel for a more complete eclipse.

It'll also show you a map and direction for where you could travel for a better view.

The eclipse will peak at 2:27:04 pm EDT, when the moon obscures 85.6% of the sun.

The eclipse has started according to the charts, but all I see right now is the full sun. I'll check every few minutes, and I'm looking forward to experiencing the 99.5% here at 2:35 EDT.

A few minutes later, I see part of the sun being covered. This is so cool!

Too many clouds lingered following a thundershower, slight darkness.. nothing exciting.

Gradual darkness, the wavering light reflections off the cement parking lot (viewed from inside the building), the security lights came on in the parking lot, and we're back to daylight.

Hope everybody had fun!

We just got home from SW Iowa. Traffic stopped us in Nebraska, and not only that the cloud cover was worse there. So with cloud map on the I pad off we went to find more clear skies.

SO we saw the sun alright but were about 40 odd miles North of totality. Here at home the neighbors saw no Sun at all just darkening of the cloudy sky..

I am sure many in the St Joe Mo. area were disappointed. My friend from Topeka was not able to get into the area because traffic came to a stop for him when 75 highway merged into 2 lane from 4 lanes.

Worth the trip, at least we saw the eclipse, albeit not a total one..

Regards, Kirk

I sat in a chair in my creek during the first half or so of the eclipse, watching through my eclipse glasses every few minutes. I was disappointed that it didn't get as dark as I had hoped at its maximum totality here, but it got dim enough to cause the crickets and cicadas to sing, so that was pretty cool. It looked really great through the glasses, and I kept exclaiming, "Awesome" as the sun became more covered.
