"NGC 1277's black hole could be many times more massive than its largest known competitor, which is estimated but not confirmed to be between 6 billion and 37 billion solar masses in size."

The black hole at the center of the Milky Way is suspected to be more than 200 million solar masses and only takes up .01%

So in terms of fractions and pie charts, 14% isn't a whole lot. I get that.

In terms of scale compared to our own galaxy, it's a Supermassive Black Hole.

I'm not arguing its size...I wouldn't argue if its the largest one ever found...

But for a actual scientist to sat that the galaxy is "almost all black hole" when it contains less than 1/6th the total mass is not only false and hyperbole, but it's unneeded sensationalism that actually HURTS science more than helps it...

When it comes to science, I like the Dragnet method...Just the facts, ma'am...

When scientists (like Michio Kaku) start widening their eyes and turning facts into mega-stories, I lose interest because we leave reality and enter fantasy...

Sol is 1 solar mass. It makes up an infinitely small percentage of the Milky Way, essentially 0% of it. Why is it a stretch to say that - perhaps the largest proportion of a galaxy taken up by a single celestial object - is almost all ____ ?

I'll reiterate...

You do this as though it actually helps me understand your point. No matter the subject, it doesn't. Perhaps instead of reiterating what doesn't work, you could elaborate?

When you have scientists...The people you're supposed to TRUST to not sensationalize...actually sensationalizing, it takes away from their true goal...to inform...

It's like this...

You ever see a reporter make the story about him/herself instead of the topic he/she's discussing?...

This is the same thing...Instead if simply saying A+B=C, we get hyperbole...
