Default Grand Canyon as Old as the Dinosaurs...

A new study indicates the Grand Canyon may have formed far before we once believed and even around when dinosaurs roamed.

Grand Canyon as Old as the Dinosaurs: Dates for Carving of Western Grand Canyon Pushed Back 60 Million Years

Quote:
ScienceDaily (Nov. 29, 2012) An analysis of mineral grains from the bottom of the western Grand Canyon indicates it was largely carved out by about 70 million years ago -- a time when dinosaurs were around and may have even peeked over the rim, says a study led by the University of Colorado Boulder.

Considering the amount of time to cut that river through rock, I've always assumed it was older than the dinosaurs...

They should've just asked me...

Judging how almost every science thread I post is inevitably followed up by a "I knew that already," despite all of these being new findings and discoveries, I say scientists should just forego all the petty studies and research and just ask our members. Would save a lot of time and money.

After driving by or viewing pics of other 'wonders' that are of that age, when one sees a pic of the canyon, in the back your mind you do assume it is that old.
