We are three years away from an imaginary spot, that might be full of small asteroid type junk, that has no light source, and may be obscured by gas clouds. They say a 1 mile object would cripple the planet, much more than 6 would be the end. I don't think so. We don't have that capability.

That's why I compared it to the Meteor showers. We simply pass through them at certain points through our orbit. Just as we go around the galaxy every 200 million years or so.
Our extinction cycles run about 62 million years though.

Maybe a little longer interval than that...

Another thing to consider. last nite I Wasatch History Internationals, The Universe. It was about the Sun and sun spots. Seems in 1851 there was a flare up that caused a very lot of damage to the earth, fires etc. In 2012 they think it will happen again like in 1851. I think I have the date right.
That means mankind will be lighting fires to cook and those without good protection will die quickly and if one lives they will need to be armed a sfood will be hard to find and others will be willing to kill anything just to see if there is something they could use. Just sharing.......

I do remember seeing that, or a similar episode, though not last night. I had forgotten about the disruptive solar flare ups. Those were the ones that caused electric/telegraph lines to overload (which is, I think, what caused the fires)? It should be interesting to see what that will do to our sattelites, internet etc.

I'm not sure we'll all be lighting fires to cook and killing each other for food, or over food... I guess anything is possible.

I don't think there are enough apocalyptic theories about what might happen in 2012... I think we should make up a few more, and start the internet rumors.

There are events that have to happen B-4 the Biblical end times if I understand the Prophets...
Major one is a world leader (as in Globalism) has to settle the divide between the Jews and Arabs over the temple mount, by a 7 years peace treaty. Which allows the Jewish Temple to be re-built. Then 3 and a half years later he enters the Temple and declares himself God. And that leads to ALL nations attacking/supporting war against Israel. Yes All nations... In the peace process the Jews announce "We have security and peace on our boarders" That is the key as I understand it.

So 10.5 years minimum as the peace treaty hasn't even been finalized... got it. World can't end before 2020, probably later than that, and considering how mideast peace negotiations go - maybe never. Jehovah's Witnesses were way off, it was supposed to be 1994, and 1914 before that...
