2. The verses quoted [i]in totem[i] demonstrate to those of us "outside the camp" just how truly convoluted and imprecise the Bible is.
Is it any wonder there have been so many sects, denominations, and divisions of every type within Christianity?

Remember, the Jews rejected Christ he did not reject them! He came to fulfill prophecy but they could not accept the fact that their redeemer would be born..in their view..of such humble circumstances. They expected a King and not a redeemer born in a manger.Christians "believe" or have Faith that the Bible is the word of God. The problem is the
interpretation of these verses and not so much the
accepted source. There can be only one truth but the interpretations can be legion and thus these sects and denominations continue to grow.
Like any religion,Christians can be stubborn and some will reject doctrine that does not "fit" their life's circumstances.Self justification runs rampent, things like abortion and birth control no longer seem taboo. I know Christians who regularly cheat on their taxes and feel no shame whatsoever.Christ "knew" this would occur, the cafeteria style Christian was enevitable. The only way to remedy this was to sacrifice his own life so that we may be saved in spite of ourselves.Unlike other religions, our salvation cannot be "earned"...someone had to pay a price!
God is LOVE...
