Why do you assume human nature is to be self centered or self serving? It amazes me that the only way to promote religion is by telling me I'm lacking in morals or generousity etc. I actually don't feel like I am lacking anything. If you are self serving and feel that god helps you to not be that is your issue. Not mine. People are less self serving then you might think. In fact they are communal beings. Thats why we developed the golden rules. There are things that don't work in a society. Stealing, Killing coveting other peoples stuff. Its all common sense. If you do these things you can't be part of the commune. Or society. No God required. Its human common sense.

This isn't an assumption; it is a conclusion based on observation of humans in their natural setting.

Whats the difference if you believe or not. Are you trying to tell me that people who go to church are less self centered or in more need of instruction. I think the latter.

No, I am not saying that church-goers are less self-centered, but I don't automatically associate church-goers with legitimate Christians either.

Isn't that another problem? You can't tell who are the real Chrstians. And which are agnostic. I must tell you that the only time anyone questions my faith is when they come to my door telling me I'm wrong. I actually think I am just what Jesus would have hoped we would be. Except for the praising stuff. I'm fair and honest. I believe in preserving as much of the planet as we can for the future generations. I hardly ever kill folks, I do lust for some sexy gals. But hell thats just biology. I don't know. I'm pretty happy. I have good honest kids. They all serve their country and community. No illegal activities.(thats my job). And the only time someone ever questions me its usually someone that is so self cenetered that they believe they know something more then me.
