Thousands of Christians flee killings in Mosul

Now the last safe haven for Christians is gone, said Canon Andrew White the vicar of St. George's church in Baghdad .

After a spree of killings and forced evictions of Iraqi Christians in Baghdad last year, many fled to Mosul . But even there they could not escape the danger. In February of this year the Archbishop Paulos Faraj Raho of Mosul was kidnapped and killed.

"Christians are being killed in the only place they felt safe, in Ninevah," White said, referring to the province of which Mosul is the capital. "This is where they fled to and now there's no safe place for them."

Over a thousand Christian families have fled Mosul for outlying villages and villages in the Kurdistan region in search of safety, a spokesman for the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs said. He gave us free will. We can join in, turn our backs or do something.
Call your congressman. Pretend they're just a family of 800,00 people being systematically destroyed and no one is helping. You have the power to help.

You mean that even if you ask him to save you he may not? Don't you think he is really just shirking responsibility?

I mean, this IS Iraq, right?
We are IN that country, right?
We are ALREADY THERE in what some claim is a "humanitarian" gesture to help stop injustices against the minority...
So why aren't we?

Never mind. The individual who NEEDS to think about that is never going to address it anyways...

3) Due to the current political situation, I can't help but wonder if Bush's hands may be more "tied" than the 2009 president's will be.
Hopefully, D or R, at least some effort is made...

Also I find it interesting from a biblical history standpoint, that Nineveh is the last strong hold. Jonah didn't want to go there, but God threw him into the belly of the whale (if you take the story literally). Ever since then (or if you don't take it literally at least since Judaism/Christianity spread to the region), there has been a community of believers there.
I just think it' extraordinary that this outpost Jonah didn't want to visit, is the saving grace of these people.
