God said it....Adam was to name each and have control over them all. If it was an egg first how could he tell what was in the egg?
So for the many creatures that lay eggs, if all were eggs and the first were eggs, we would have a lot of creatures named eggs.

It makes perfect sense to me but so far most of our theories are based on biblical principal. I'm waiting for secular humanists, agnostics and atheists to weigh in on this. Would they agree with the concept of the animal/plant appearing first? And on what grounds, since they may not revere the Old Testament ?
Another question that I can't help but pose here, is why do we care? People have argued and mused over this point for centuries. What would the answer prove to us as humans. The meaning of life? Or is it the desire to prove some inner "truth" and say "ah-ha!" "I was right!"

I am sure they will come Salty. I am reading some more. But as you point out science has an argument. From all I have read or seen there were years of freeze and warming and CO 2 change. For instances the Shara Desert was once a tropic climate zone. I core studies etc., etc.
And from the records of layers of the earths crust come many climate changes records and the results. I can't ignore facts, but at the same time I can't ignore the deeply held belief in Christ. I just haven't made both fit together so others can see it my way. But I also believe in Free will of Choice. So What one believes isn't for me to say they are right or wrong. I think the churchs have done the most to set people in the situation of either for or aganist. That is why I follow the Way of Christ.

Actually it had to be a chicken with an egg inside and the egg hatched into a rooster thus causing chickens.
