It depends on how one was raised and thought to believe. The islamic extremists I'm sure think what they are doing is good, but of course they are not.

And many soldiers in our own armed forces think they are doing good when they drone bomb unknown persons in Libya, Pakistan, Yemen and ransack whole neighborhoods in Iraq, protect poppy fields in Afghanistan and torture people in various places around the world etc..

Not saying that either are good, just that people can justify actions for just about anything.

The constrained founders of our country and those that followed them found no conflict between all men are created equal, the Creator giving them unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness along with slavery? Or allowing only white male property owners to vote? Or eliminating the Indians way of life by killing off the buffalo population or the purposeful spread of small pox because they stood in the way of progress/profit?

Is either side, constrained or unconstrained, really any different?

Maybe if we stayed in our own country and didn't interfere in the business of other countries like George Washington advised, the islamic extremists wouldn't be doing what they're doing?
