Default Jeremiah Wright - Obama's mentor - Hate speech

Sorry..this IS hate speech and Obama will have to atone for supporting this garbage at the polls. His opposition to this hate rhetoric comes far too late.I'm not buying that he was not aware of Wright's hate agenda..

He didn't deny hearing Wright making those comments. He answered the question as far as I'm concerned.

He denied listening to it personally until he stopped denying it today...

Redd I am getting the idea that you haven't drunk the Obama koolaid. I haven't either. But I think the guy gave a good response to the issue today. It came across as reasonable to me. And I'm not an Obama supporter.

I was willing to give Obama a chance and that was months ago. That's far from being an Obama supporter! Up till two days ago,I was still defending him but no more. Yes he gave a fine speech but he also contradicted himself. You cannot be a member of that church for two decades and then claim you were "unaware" of the hate rhetoric being spewed by Pastor Wright. The time to denounce Wright's rhetoric was years ago not today.I cannot help but question Obama's judgement in this matter. He will have to do a lot more explaining before I will ignore this issue.I have no doubt that Obama lost a few Independents over this incident. The hardcore left may be unphased by this but I am not comfortable with this untimely explanation and excuses that include contradictions.

It's not only too little,it comes far too late..

I will not hold Obama responsible for Wright, just as I wouldn't hold McCain responsible for being friends with someone. Just because you are friends with someone doesn't mean that you agree with their politics and the Wright situation is far more complicated than the media leads on. We should be ashamed if we allow this trivial situation distract us from the real issues.

Would anyone hold it against Joe Biden if he simply belonged to a white supremist chuch for 20 years? Sure they would and you know it.One cannot belong to any racist group for 20 years and come out of it with clean hands.

This situation is far from trivial,Obama made a "choice" to "remain" in that congregation and listen to the racist anti American rhetoric. Now..as another great black leader once said.."The devil has come home to roost"...

We don't hold it against Robert Byrd...

At any rate... Obama made a choice to continue a relationship with a man who led him to Christ. Obama made a choice to overlook and quietly disagree with the man because of the immense personal respect he had for the man, the same respect that most would have for the person who led them to Christ. Spin it how you want, but admit that it's spin. Admit that we don't know the full situation and that we only have soundbytes to go on and we all know how reliable soundbytes are for judging the entire picture.

We all make "choices"..I would not remain long in a white supremacist church even if the minister was my own father. What Obama needs to consider is the choice Independents make in November. I am an Independent and Obama's poor choice in remaining in that clearly racist and anti-American congregation is indeed troubling.I'm not saying I have decided not to vote for Obama but he will have to work a miracle to get me to ever consider him again.

I'm not voting for Wright, I'm voting for Obama, and if one cannot see the clear differences in policy, ideals, and convictions, then they CHOOSE not to see the differences and give into the media driven fear.
