You might want to find a new term. It's not possible for a lack of belief in something to be a "hoax". If I don't believe in santa, is that a "hoax"? That doesn't make any goddamn sense.

But regardless, the video showed nothing at all except the same ole "if we can't explain it yet, it must be magic" mentality.

Athiesium is not a 'religion'. It is an individuals lack of belief in ANY God and it actually ends there.

Believers might try to persuade in a kind way and some might even pray about it. Thats fine because its following 'their' belief to do so and if it makes them happy to think they are fulfilling an instruction to do so then it doesn't bother me one iota

On the other hand, some will make disparaging remarks about the lack of belief which , frankly, is no argument at all.If they cannot accept an alternative view to their own then it says more about them than it does about me. In fact it puts me in mind of a spoilt child who stamps his feet and has a melt down when he cannot have his own way.

It is also mildly amusing to see the disagreements between believers regarding the actual belief. Perhaps that should be addressed first and then they can present a united front

Is a lack of belief in any god the same thing as an assertion that no gods exist?

There is no evidence to be assertive about on either side. You either believe or you do not.


Actually I liked the way Terry Pratchett explained it..Gods exist just as long as people believe in them which is absolutely correct if you think about the dieties which were once reverred and are now gone.

So if the only choices are that you believe or that you do not believe then where do agnostics fit in?
