Default Donald Trump acts to cut prescription drug prices in US

Remember back in the 2018 midterm elections when Democrats flogged high prescription drug prices all the way to a House majority? Headed by Speaker Pelosi the House has conveniently ignored their campaign promises in this area in favor of acting as a lynch mob to impeach President Trump.

But like so many other issues President Trump has taken action to solve a problem despite unrelenting, unfounded attacks by Democrats reflexively opposed to anything he proposes even when it's a long standing policy objective of theirs.

Quote:
President Donald Trump has signed four executive orders aimed at cutting prescription drug prices in the US.

"The four orders I'm signing today will completely restructure the prescription drug market," said Mr Trump, who has long criticised "astronomical" prices.

The measures would allow discounts and import of cheaper drugs from abroad.
Get that? Democrats have long whined about other nations paying far less than Americans do for the same pharmaceutical drugs. So-called free market Conservative Republicans have defended the plundering of the American consumer by big Pharma. Nonetheless President Trump has acted on behalf of the little guy forcing pharmaceutical manufacturers to charge the US consumer the same prices as they do exports to other countries.

Predictably big Pharma has pushed back against any changes to the practice of having Americans subsidize foreign consumers.

Quote:
This administration has decided to pursue a radical and dangerous policy to set prices based on rates paid in countries that he [President Trump] has labelled as socialist, which will harm patients today and into the future," Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America said in a statement .

It said Mr Trump's move was "a reckless distraction that impedes our ability to respond to the current [coronavirus] pandemic - and those we could face in the future".
A nice injection of fear mongering claiming any interruption to the practice of ripping off the US consumer will delay development of a vaccine or therapeutic treatment for the Chinese virus. Of course Democrats are bound by the prime directive of Orange man bad not to support President Trump even as he fulfills their major campaign promise.

The left only knows how to pander. They yell and scream at big Pharma, then wink and nod to let them know that they will not hurt them.

Yep, but it took Trump the proto dictator, Putin's puppet, the raving incompetent, etc. to get it done. This is after the move to cap insulin costs at $30 per month.

Of course Democrats are only interested in spreading the lie that President Trump will strip people with preexisting conditions of healthcare coverage.
