Trump Pressed Australian Leader to Help Barr Investigate Mueller Inquiry’s Origins

Trump Pressed Australian Leader to Help Barr Investigate Mueller Inquiry’s Origins

hmmm...looks like there's a pattern here?

Quote:

President Trump pushed the Australian prime minister during a recent telephone call to help Attorney General William P. Barr gather information for a Justice Department inquiry that Mr. Trump hopes will discredit the Mueller investigation,...
Quote:

The White House restricted access to the call’s transcript to a small group of the president’s aides, one of the officials said, an unusual decision that is similar to the handling of a July call with the Ukrainian president that is at the heart of House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry into Mr. Trump. Like that call, the discussion with Prime Minister Scott Morrison of Australia shows the extent to which Mr. Trump sees the attorney general as a critical partner in his goal to show that the Mueller investigation had corrupt and partisan origins, and the extent that Mr. Trump sees the Justice Department inquiry as a potential way to gain leverage over America’s closest allies.
Quote:

And like the call with the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, the discussion with Mr. Morrison shows the president using high-level diplomacy to advance his personal political interests.
Quote:

President Trump initiated the discussion in recent weeks with Mr. Morrison explicitly for the purpose of requesting Australia’s help in the Justice Department review of the Russia investigation, according to the two people with knowledge of the discussion. Mr. Barr requested that Mr. Trump speak to Mr. Morrison, one of the people said. It came only weeks after Mr. Trump seemed to make military aid to Ukraine contingent on Mr. Zelensky doing him the “favor” of helping Mr. Barr with his work.
Quote:

A Justice Department spokeswoman declined to comment. A White House spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment, nor did a spokesperson for the Australian prime minister.
so that's not a no.

Quote:

In making the request, Mr. Trump was in effect asking the Australian government to investigate itself. The F.B.I.’s counterintelligence investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election began after Australian officials told the bureau that the Russian government had made overtures to the Trump campaign about releasing political damaging information about Hillary Clinton.
Quote:

Australian officials shared that information after its top official in Britain met in London in May 2016 with George Papadopoulos, a Trump campaign foreign policy adviser who told the Australian about the Russian dirt on Mrs. Clinton.
So basically they're trying to get all the servers and pressure allies to lie so they can rewrite the history of their crimes. 1984?
Quote:

Mr. Papadopoulos also said that he had heard that the Russians had “thousands” of Mrs. Clinton’s emails from Joseph Mifsud, an academic. Mr. Mifsud, who was last seen working as a visiting professor in Rome, has disappeared. Trump allies, like the president’s personal lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani, have put forth an unsubstantiated claim that Western intelligence agencies planted Mr. Mifsud to trap Mr. Papadopoulos.,,,

Nice to know Trump has friends about the world he can count on and ask to help him track down those Swamp critters who committed a coup to oust him.

Thanks Salty!

Again, GOOD! Show me the law that says that the AG cannot do this.

Salty, you need to quit believing every sensational headline you read is actually a story. You also may want to ask why it is wrong to ask a foreign country for assistance in an investigation of a criminal act that occurred across multiple countries but it is OK for three Dem Senators to threaten Ukraine if they don't cooperate with the Mueller investigation.

Re: Trump Pressed Australian Leader to Help Barr Investigate Mueller Inquiry’s Origin

The big scandal with Trump asking the Ukrainian President to look into Biden's corruption is that Biden is running for President. There is a little know codicil to the Constitution that grants immunity from investigation and prosecution to any and all Democrats running for President. Now it appears this immunity also extends to anyone who helped weaponize the Federal government to usurp the 2016 Presidential election. ;)

Australian diplomat and longtime Clinton ally Alexander Downer's claim that Trump campaign volunteer George Papadopoulos told him during a drunken conversation in a London wine bar that the "Russians" have thousands of Hillary's emails is a key pretext for James Comey's FBI to begin a secret counterintelligence into the Trump campaign. Naturally Democrats don't want the recruitment and motivation of the Australian diplomat looked into as AG Barr is now doing so, they have extended the secret codicil of immunity to foreign nationals ineligible for the Presidency. :p

The primary goal of the Resistance is to first impeachment then imprison Donald Trump stripping him and his family of all assets along the way. The Barr led investigation into the origins of the failed Mueller probe poses an existential threat not only to the players involved doing the investigation but to the political appointees who manufactured false predicaments for Mueller's witchhunt in an attempted takedown of their perceived political enemy. The same Resistance actors so keen on investigating Trump's so-called Russian collusion are screaming "election interference" desperately trying to block efforts to expose the manufactured rationale for the jihad against the other political party. :thumbsup

Question for the class.

Why is it somehow impeachable for a sitting president to give a call to another world leader to discuss leader stuff, yet a sitting president talking to another world leader rep on inadvertently open mike and asking for a little slack until after his election campaign is over is not?

You know the answer. President Trump's ordinary phone conversation gets spun up into impeachment by an anonymous leaker. Barack the Immaculate openly conspires with the Russians to influence our election without fear of criticism little on impeachment. :thumbsup

The same double standard animates the characterizations of the Attorney general. Eric Holder pledged to act as Obama's wing man. Loretta Lynch promised Bill Clinton no harm would come to Hillary from the email investigation. Jeff Sessions was compromised and so was required to recuse. Barr is acting as Trump's personal attorney. Again, you know the political affiliations of each AG. ;)

With the MSM in their back pocket, the Democrats can openly accuse any Republican of any crime and the Media will spin it, no questions asked. Unfortunately, Republicans don't have that same spin machine working for them and running cover. Therefore, public sentiment is greatly influenced against Republicans and in favor of whatever narrative the Left decides to advance.
