Trump gives National Security Council seat to Steve Bannon

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...-isis-strategy

He's replacing the joint chiefs and intelligence director seats with a fuc*ing white supremacist blogger.

So the NDI and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff aren't needed but Bannon is?

Elections have consequences. You lost. President Trump can do that.

I'm guessing you don't like Bannon, or President Trump all that much.

Just a reminder that Bush absolutely refused to let Karl Rove attend national security council meetings. He said he never wanted to give the military the impression his decisions were politically motivated. Even George ****ing W Bush knew better than this.

Apparently Obama didn't feel the need for flag officers all that much,

Bannon isn't replacing anybody. The Chiefs will still be there. They will be called on when their expertise is required. Bannon will act as the liason between Trump and his employees.

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is the highest position in the armed forces, the position exists almost solely to counsel the president and the National Security Council. The Director of National Intelligence is the IC equivalent and is reported to by all 17 intelligence agencies. Removing these two people from the National Security Council and replacing them with Steve Bannon is a decision so laughably bad for our national security, that it amazes me anyone can defend it.

I recognize the right of all US citizens to freely express their opinions, subject to a small number of restrictions. Yelling fire in crowded clubs, blocking others access in getting their opinions expressed. Teachers expressing their opinion that the President should die by water pistol. Things of that sort.

“I’m a Leninist,” Bannon proudly proclaimed. Shocked, I asked him what he meant.

“Lenin,” he answered, “wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal too. I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment.” Bannon was employing Lenin’s strategy for Tea Party populist goals. He included in that group the Republican and Democratic Parties, as well as the traditional conservative press.
