I'm a little surprised Obama hasn't approved the Keystone pipeline project yet. I figured after the 2012 election, when he no longer had to pander to the unions and environmentalists, he woulda jumped on this. But like almost everything else Obama's eyes are caught in the headlights at night on a desolate country road and unsure what to do. So what do you do when you're undecided? Punt. Do nothing. When called out and forced to explain your decision to do nothing you merely lie about the particulars.

Yes, read the OP the State department estimates a a potential of 42,000 jobs generated from the pipeline. Phoney numbers recited by a phoney President but you are all ears at the sound of the masters voice.

You mean like where it says "state department report".

"Supporting" 42,000 jobs is a bit different from creating them.

My question is how many temporary and permanent jobs will this really create. 4,000? 2,000? 100? 50? Do we honestly know or are we (including the president) going by continually revised estimates and are just pretending to know?

Think about it. The Keystone pipeline is 1,700 miles long and will cost $7 billion to build. It will take about 2 years to build it. If you have 42,000 people working on it for 2 years at an average cost of $20 to $25 an hour, you will have around $4 billion in labor costs which sounds about right.

Keep in mind, not everyone will be working directly on the pipeline. You will need engineers, architects, surveyors, building of materials for the pipeline, transportation of materials, suppliers, etc.

These will all be new jobs or extension of existing jobs instead of lay-offs as without this work, there would be no need for any of these people.

42,000 temporary jobs isn't creating jobs, the State Department also said in their report that the Pipline would likely lead to 35 permanent positions... that's lower than what Obama cited.

Incredible that Obama was jumping around for quite awhile yelling at the top of his lungs how he created jobs by hiring part-time census workers that worked for less than a year asking questions, carrying a clipboard and producing absolutely no revenue, but having workers in steel and construction for a multi-year project that would reap billions?...
