Default Obama: Ho Chi Minh Was Inspired by Our Founders

Good God...

I would HOPE the members here don't need a lesson on the tyranny and murderous destruction of Ho Chi Minh...You would THINK that we'd all be in agreement that he was one of the worst figures of the 20th century...

Ho Chi Minh...

Quote:
Hồ Chí Minh was a Vietnamese communist revolutionary leader who was prime minister (1945–1955) and president (1945–1969) of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam). He was a key figure in the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945, as well as the People’s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and the Việt Cộng (NLF or VC) during the Vietnam War.

He led the Việt Minh independence movement from 1941 onward, establishing the communist-ruled Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945 and defeating the French Union in 1954 at the battle of Điện Biên Phủ. He officially stepped down from power in 1965 due to health problems, but remained a highly visible figurehead and inspiration for those Vietnamese fighting for his cause—a united, communist Vietnam—until his death. After the war, Saigon, the former capital of South Vietnam, was renamed Hồ Chí Minh City.
To Obama, he was the next Thomas Jefferson...Because words speak louder than actions...

Obama: Ho Chi Minh Was Inspired by Our Founders

Quote:
President Obama hailed hard-core communist revolutionary Ho Chi Minh today as a pretty open guy who was actually inspired by the Founders.

Obama took a break from his jobs-pivot speeches to meet Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang at the White House. The pair held joint remarks in the Oval Office afterward.

Obama said their first bilateral meeting “represents the steady progression and strengthening of the relationship between our two countries.”

“Obviously, we all recognize the extraordinarily complex history between the United States and Vietnam. Step by step, what we have been able to establish is a degree of mutual respect and trust that has allowed us now to announce a comprehensive partnership between our two countries that will allow even greater cooperation on a whole range of issues from trade and commerce to military-to-military cooperation, to multilateral work on issues like disaster relief, to scientific and educational exchanges,” he added.

After meeting with the leader of a country that persecutes and imprisons bloggers and priests, suppresses media and any form of political dissent and uses forced labor, Obama said they “discussed the challenges that all of us face when it comes to issues of human rights.”

“We emphasized how the United States continues to believe that all of us have to respect issues like freedom of expression, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly,” the president continued. “And we had a very candid conversation about both the progress that Vietnam is making and the challenges that remain.”

The visit by Sang, he said, “signifies the maturing and the next stage of the development between the United States and Vietnam.”

Obama said Sang concluded the meeting by sharing “a copy of a letter sent by Ho Chi Minh to Harry Truman.”

“And we discussed the fact that Ho Chi Minh was actually inspired by the U.S. Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and the words of Thomas Jefferson. Ho Chi Minh talks about his interest in cooperation with the United States. And President Sang indicated that even if it’s 67 years later, it’s good that we’re still making progress.”

That's a pretty interesting spin on what Obama actually said, certainly didn't say Ho Chi Minh was the next Thomas Jefferson. Fact is one can take inspiration from people historically considered a force of positive change/revolution/etc and end up with results that deviate from who inspired them.

Let me put it this way: Every single politician in the United States, left, right, D, R, I, winner, loser, whether you like or hate them, will tell you with a straight face that they draw inspiration from our Founding Fathers and the revolutionary spirit that they embodied when they created this great nation. They've trained themselves pretty well on that lesson.

I'm not offended that Minh wrote about what inspired him to Truman, nor with Obama saying what Minh wrote in the letter. I'm infinitely more offended over what he did with his revolution and the atrocities thereafter, but not exactly much we can do with that offense. Maybe next time they meet, Obama can froth at Sang for a while, although I'm not sure what good that'll do diplomacy wise. Perhaps for an encore the next time he and Merkel chat, Obama can ramble a bit about Hitler.

Let's just leave it at he lead a Commie Regime. And like his top General was willing to lose 10 to 1 soldiers, knowing that the American people would wane on his war.

Hippies then like Jane Fonda were his guiding light in America. As time went by these anti war people went from our Govt., is sending our soldiers to die for nothing.

To Our soldiers are baby killers & deserve to die over there.

And today about every one of these anti war persons is a hard core liberal..

And many went from Hippies to Yuppies to rich...

I can speak to these things as I witnessed them. From coming home from the Nam to years later when I parted with society and ran into the Yuppies then called Rainbow People, who went into the woods just below the end of the tree line once a year for a week of festive to remind them where they came from.

I lived in these woods & mountains and when this time came I would wake up & see the crowds coming.

They were pleasent & shared some items I couldn't get my hands on. Plus when the ladies bathed they did it in the open where I had a pipe coming from my cave to relieve the under ground stream.

I had a wake up show every morning.

obama swooning over a communist leader is not a surprise. He seems intent on spitting in the face of all legal immigrants who worked hard getting to this country and to all veterans who fought in the Vietnam war.

And you libs wonder why obama is despised by so many in this country.

Consider this most every hard core libber have always in one way or the other supported the underdogs of wars, like Che to Ho Chi Minh.

They make & sell T-Shirts to God only know what else with their images on them and some nice sounding chimes.

That and other things made these Yuppies money to start other busineses. And plenty did make it to the top which means to them $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Humans mean little before the animals which many do support, as in Politics to Save the Whales, means in your face. Hard balling it.

Now that Obie won last November and doesn't have to worry about pesky reelections I'd expect more idiotic and what he considers true statements out of his mouth.

Swooning over a communist leader?

Jeeze, the spin machine is so far into overdrive we're going into BS territory. Seriously, swooning over a communist leader? There's the typical right-wing spin like in the OP, then there's just making stuff up.

So Ho Chi said he was inspired by Thomas Jefferson, and that's Obama's fault how?

In my opinion Obama just by going to Vietnam equals swooning over their leader.
