Jerry Brown the current and past Governor of California is famous for driving his own second hand vehicle and not taking a lot of perks of the job.

Can't think of any modern president that has "lead by example" in terms of not going on vacation or cutting back.

What hypocrisy how about the money your elected officials pull in congress for working 3 days a week with millions of tax payer's money for their junkets. Now that is hypocrisy for you. However you guys keep sending them back to congress now don't you but bitch about everyone other senator or congressman. But according to you any employee of the government including local shouldn't take a paid vacation which they all do. Oh and by the way the tax payer picks up the salary and in the case of the president the transportation and security costs with what that entails. The POTUS is responsible for rent, food etc while on vacation. I might also be charged for extra costs involved such as guest air fare etc.

Oh and the tax payers are still paying security on all living presidents even though out of office now another perk of the job.

You do realize they are employees and the taxes pay their salaries. That makes a government employee no different than someone working in any job with an employer. If the perks are part of the job you tend to take them in place of wages and employers offer them to get good people in those jobs. This is the one area where government and private business actually work the same. Oh and your taxes is what keep a government going so they are paying for services you get such as police, fire, a military to cover your ass in time of war needed or not. What is extravagant to you might be just average for others too. I'm beginning to figure you out though as one of the government bad crowd that wants sole goal is to bring it down. All I can tell you is if it happens you will be the first to cry like a baby.

No, one of the "perks" of the job isn't to take multi million dollar vacations to anywhere you want, any goddamn time you want. At least it should NOT be. Not for any ****ing public employee.
