I would not call that statement "I want every agency to move forward" to be capitalizing on disaster.
Consider Hurricane Katrina. |

I'm not saying it wasn't planned, but I can certainly see how it could have been nothing more than a verbal misstep.

Somehow that "motto" got in there but I'm not sure it was by design. Either way,it's not a "huge" misstep but the opposition will try to give it some play. |

Uniting in the face of a natural disaster didn't inhibit the talking heads at MSNBC from criticising Romney for not calling every governor of a state impacted by the storm. Romney called McDonald of Virginia and Christie both Republicans he has a close relationship with on the campaign. This was deemed indicative of Romney's failure to be President of all the people. Of course if Romney had contacted all the governors of the heavily impacted states the complaint would have been that he was interfering with disaster response for political gain.

Yes he did do a great job but if he mentioned his campaign motto Lean Forward by design, some could view this as politicizing a disaster.

I think this is a bit overblown. It is a common phrase and was used approprietly. You have to be pretty deep in the woods to see a connection.
