Default Obama: DC 'feels as broken as it did 4 years ago'

Gee after 3+ years our president has noticed that DC hasn't changed much. Or is this just a new start for the election run. Using the 2008 topic. Opinions wanted...

.Obama: DC 'feels as broken as it did 4 years ago'

Associated Press – 16 mins ago. Posted 15 July 2012 ...........................

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says Washington "feels as broken as it did four years ago," when he took office.

He says he's most frustrated by the inability "to change the atmosphere" in the nation's capital "to reflect the decency and common sense of ordinary people" who want their leaders to solve problems.

"There's enough blame to go around for that," he told CBS' "Sunday Morning."

Now I have been saying the same thing, except he is running for re-election and I am just running.

............................................ SKIPPED SOME .............................................

"When you're on the road, you end up eating a lot of stuff that tastes really good at the time but later on in the day can catch up with you, and I'm now getting to the age where being in my own bed as opposed to some other bed, is not always great for my back," he told WJLA-TV in Washington.

Either he brought his own bed to the WH or he is planning on winning, yet someone needs to tell him it isn't his bed or house, he is just one of many to pass through the WH and then leaves. My other thoughts on this slip could go in the Conspiracy thread, just ing.

Obama also revealed, when asked what voters don't know about him, that he "can cook a really mean chili," though his wife will claim that "I haven't cooked it for about 10 years, so I really shouldn't get too much credit for it."

And one more: "I'm a surprisingly good pool player, so if you ever see me in a pool hall, don't just think that you can ..."

"Don't walk up and throw down money is what you're saying?" interviewer Scott Thurman asked.

I still have the pool cue I won in N.J. state fair and at times I paid my rent on pool winnings. I would play him for cash...

Thats because most people in DC are more worried about getting re-elected than fixing things.

Yeah well he is right. I think this is why congress has approval rating lower than the taliban. They do nothing but partisan gamesmanship. Both sides do it but I would say the right has been particularly stubborn in working with this POTUS. Just look at their last game. Two weeks and millions of dollars to vote to repeal the HC bill that they knew upfront wouldn't happen. The congress is completely broken down. No excuses needed. It's just a fact.

Yep. Worried about ousting Obama so they can't pass any bills.
Get rid of all the Republicans in the house and replace with Democrats. Keep the Senate as is or ad a few Dems and we will be doing great.

I think the President is correct in his assertion that DC is as broken as it was 4 years ago. I don't think, however, it's entirely fair to lay that at the feet of the President and blame him for it.

The President was a bit naive when running four years ago. I think many of us were. I think the majority of us WANTED things to be different. We WANTED to have a more cohesive and cooperative Legislature. We WANTED to have everything dialed back a bit and get on with the business of governing. The problem is that both parties, the Democrats and the Republicans, have become too partisan to be interested in governing. They're really only interested in being reelected.

Both parties still look at the other as the enemy. They still view compromise as a negative instead of a responsible reality. They still view compromise as weakness. They still view compromise as giving political points to the other side. In all this shuffle, the American people are still being treated like pawns or merely ignored.

I think it is broken, and I think it will continue to be broken as long as we buy into this left/right liberal/conservative democrat/republican paradigm instead of an American paradigm based upon consensus and compromise.

Oh, and that would work well.

What we need is term limits. Been said before, will say it a 100 times more. They get comfortable, know who they can go to to get the votes for their pet projects, and the only time they seem to buck up and take notice of their constituents is when they are up for reelection.

If something along those lines isn't done soon, DC will ALWAYS look like it does now.

Gee you guys think alike, just get all Dems and everything will work itself out, right? So just dump some 52% (or what ever the percent is center or right) of society and you can have your wish.

I hate to break this to you salty but not all of the Dems are Dems. After you relieve the percent that is other than left, you will have to deal with the real Liberals, the Progressives.

And I didn't.... I agreed with him!

And I have been saying this, except for being naive, which I have my doubts about.

And only of late been re-starting to say the same about re-election.

I agree with you yet one side had to become the cause for all of this nonsense, but blaming either side at this point is useless IMHO.

There to I have to agree with you dabateman, but this won't happen as it has gone so far for so long.

Plus if Obama does win it will set this non working govt. thing into a whirlwind. Which will lead to total disorder and possible total failure.
As I have said we need to work together many times. There has to be some middle ground, but in your list you left out the major factor, the real people who back this POTUS, the Progressives whom are the very elite.

You know the ones who made statements like "there are to many people on this planet so some need to die" now this was a whle ago but their thinking hasn't changed nor their misguided logic.

And that is what worries me a little.

Nice words, dabateman, but I fear all is lost unless we repeal and replace some Republicans.

with CU in place term limits would finish the deterioration of society. We would be one big corporate nation.
