Default The President Has a List

Quote:
Try this thought experiment: You decide to donate money to Mitt Romney. You want change in the Oval Office, so you engage in your democratic right to send a check.

Several days later, President Barack Obama, the most powerful man on the planet, singles you out by name. His campaign brands you a Romney donor, shames you for "betting against America," and accuses you of having a "less-than-reputable" record. The message from the man who controls the Justice Department (which can indict you), the SEC (which can fine you), and the IRS (which can audit you), is clear: You made a mistake donating that money.

Are you worried?

Richard Nixon's "enemies list" appalled the country for the simple reason that presidents hold a unique trust. Unlike senators or congressmen, presidents alone represent all Americans. Their powers—to jail, to fine, to bankrupt—are also so vast as to require restraint. Any president who targets a private citizen for his politics is de facto engaged in government intimidation and threats. This is why presidents since Nixon have carefully avoided the practice.

Save Mr. Obama, who acknowledges no rules. This past week, one of his campaign websites posted an item entitled "Behind the curtain: A brief history of Romney's donors." In the post, the Obama campaign named and shamed eight private citizens who had donated to his opponent. Describing the givers as all having "less-than-reputable records," the post went on to make the extraordinary accusations that "quite a few" have also been "on the wrong side of the law" and profiting at "the expense of so many Americans."

These are people like Paul Schorr and Sam and Jeffrey Fox, investors who the site outed for the crime of having "outsourced" jobs. T. Martin Fiorentino is scored for his work for a firm that forecloses on homes. Louis Bacon (a hedge-fund manager), Kent Burton (a "lobbyist") and Thomas O'Malley (an energy CEO) stand accused of profiting from oil. Frank VanderSloot, the CEO of a home-products firm, is slimed as a "bitter foe of the gay rights movement."

Obama has no shame, morals, or ethics, and he is proving that with his campaign. Any lefty who doesn't condemn this slime ball shows not only their hypocrisy, but, their own moral lapses.

Isn't this pretty much what anti-Obama-ites did when they started in on Obama / Maher when Maher donated???

Nah.
It's only wrong when the other party is involved...

You're talking about this right?

While performing his “StupidCrazyPolitics” show at the San Jose Center For The Performing Arts in San Jose, CA Thursday night, comedian and HBO host Bill Maher announced he would be donating $1 million to Priorities USA Action, a pro-Barack Obama Super PAC.
OK, now think of the phrase "reasonable expectation of privacy". See if you can figure out why the 2 situations might be different.

As far as demonizing the bloggers who turned on the live stream comedy special, noticed the million dollar check, then pointed their fingers at the Dems, and called "hypocrites", because this is the party that started a war on women over the Sandra Fluke thing, then rolled in the cool mill given to them by the guy who calls a woman "Twat", and "c*nt"...nice try.

Mahr is critcised for remarks he makeson his shows and during public appearances. The criticism started years before Obama even became a public figure. It is in no way comparable to a sitting President asking for $50 million to investigate the Kochs because they are they are oil traders.

Of course the historic President copies FDR again using the DOJ to conduct political witchhunts. Recall FDR's failed prosecution of Andrew Mellon and hateful rants against "economic royalists?"

From the OP...

When you start making comparisons of a president of the United States with pundits, entertainers, and comedians, (and non-elected public officials in general), than that tells us you put them on the same level...

And people complain about America have a bullying problem. Obama sets a fine example of how bullys operate and yet still his disciples defend his every move.

By the time the election rolls around, even his staunchest defenders are going to have to take pause. His Chicago style politics are going to be apparent to everyone.

A good percentage of the population doesn't care as long as the government checks keep rolling in. I hope it's hasn't reached the point those people out number us.
