You are so right about the Dimocrats being lazy. The core constituency had to attend to applying for another round of Federal welfare benefits and so could not bother to vote. Obewan could claim his agenda is still validated by the "great silent majority" if Nixon hadn't already appropriated the phrase.

Then by the same token you must believe all Republicans are soulless money grubbers.

More to the point I don't think many of the new voters got into voting for mid terms. And to be fair some may have more important things pressing. Like eating and having a roof...
Democrats and Republicans (voters) are pretty lazy when things are going their way though.
