And thus the party will pay for all expenses incurred that wouldn't have normally ocurred via the business trip. Which the article claims.

Accounting is accounting is accounting...
No, this is exactly how Washington works and there in lies the problem. Obama promised change, but, is still doing things the way it has always been done. If I, as a voter, can't trust the president to keep his word why should I vote for him. Not that I would, but, as it is always being said perception is everything and the perception is obama can't keep any of his promises.

The division of expenses would be the same if he worked for K-Mart. The President isn't doing anything wrong. Perhaps you should brush up on the Principles of Accounting.

Just because he isn't technically doing anything wrong, also doesn't make it right!

You are just doing what you have always done with obama defend his actions even if it means throwing principles out the window.

I think it depends on which came first...

If Obama was going to be in town and Carnahan said "While you're here, would you do a campaign stop?", then I don't mind since the primary reasoning was official business...

If it were vice-versa, then I DO mind...This would just as bad as flying to Disney World for a week with the family and then writing it off as a business expense because you were on the phone once a day with the home office....It's a bullsh*t loophole for politicians just as it is for CEOs...

I thought about this last year when Obama went to Saint Louis to throw out the first pitch of the All-Star game...

If he had business already there then it's kosher IMO...But he didn't...he few out AF1, threw the pitch, then went back on AF1 back to DC...

That was SUCH a waste of tax dollars...

Obama to visit KC

Updated July 5, 2010 at 11:22pm

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will mix campaigning with a discussion on the economy during a trip to Missouri this week.

The White House says Obama will travel to Kansas City on Thursday to discuss the economy with workers at Smith Electric Vehicles.

Later Thursday, Obama will raise money for Senate candidate Robin Carnahan. Carnahan is the leading Democratic candidate in the race to replace retiring Republican Sen. Kit Bond. Rep. Roy Blunt is the Republican front-runner.

Pairing an official event with a political appearance lets the White House bill taxpayers rather than Carnahan's campaign for most of the president's travel costs.

Is this what your referring to, the underlined part? Thats some claim. But why go on with this. When you find the differences post them. If one can find them.

I have to agree.

Washington under the Despotic Obama/Pelolsi/Reid Cabal isn't working at all.

Oddly, quite a few Americans aren't either.

Go figure!

Hope and CHANGE Wasn't that the premise upon which Pres. Obama was elected?? Didn't you vote for him because he promised to CHANGE the waythings were done?? Is this acceptable to you?? Do you think that this kind of thing should be OK for the President to do?? ... and please leave out the tired argument that since others have it, then it's OK now. You put this guy in office to CHANGE the way things are done, so trying to use the bad policies of the past as an excuse for how things are being done now is not a valid argument. I believe that you elected the President in order to help stop this kind of thing, didn't you??? Wasn't that a big part of what convinced you put a check mark next to Barack Obama instead of Cynthia McKinney??

I didn't vote for Obama to change the basic principles of accounting...

No one did dabateman. I sure didn't. But did vote for him like FS said. Now call it what you like.

In Republican areas the message is politics as usual...

And many of the younger ones looking ahead for jobs and a decent life after college or those whom have family or themselves unemployed.

Might see it as one more promise not kept.

Just why do you think Obama is on Immigration reform which is the "D's" code word for Amnesty.

MORE VOTES..... To replace the ones he is losing..
