Default Obama to Launch Public Campaign for Wall Street Crackdown

Officials said Sunday that the president plans to embark on a series of outside-the-Beltway rallies and town hall events where he will press for financial regulatory reform and turn up the heat on Senate Republicans. Some events will be built almost entirely around this topic, and, as with the health care push, Obama's campaign arm Organizing for America will coordinate all moves with the White House.

"We cannot delay action any longer," Obama said in a message sent around by Organizing for America over the weekend.

The president is treating the overhaul with the same kind of urgent and barbed rhetoric he used during the health care debate. Senior advisers have prioritized the financial bill as the most important political fight of the next two months -- despite Obama's pledge during his State of the Union address to make jobs legislation the top issue.

Does this glorified door-to-door salesman ever work in his office at his official duties?

And yet again I ask, what possible expertise, his own or that of his circle of advisors could realistically justify this endeavor? Or in the space program . . .or in health care reform. . . or in international diplomacy . . . etc.

Why is this knave allowed to meddle with important things that he couldn't possibly understand?

Because it was the deregulation of the financial industry, that led to our economic meltdown.

Those ****ers don't give a **** about the health and welfare of this nation. Do you know what they did with that bailout money they were given to create jobs? They gave it to senior executives as bonuses.

Maybe you don't give a **** about this country, but I do.

So . . . what you're saying. . . is that the incompetents who gave vast sums of money to corrupt businessmen in order to stimulate the economy . . . should now be allowed to seize even more power in order to further manipulate the system that they have no conceivable expertise in.

OK. I think my position is now firmly justified. Would you like to help me some more?

Wall Street suspects Goldman charges 'not coincidental' to financial reform effort

Wall Street is more than a little suspicious of today’s charges by the Securities and Exchange Commission, which has accused Goldman Sachs of lying to investors about who was really behind junk mortgages securities it sold to clients.

Barclays banking analyst Roger Freeman comes right out and blasts the SEC effort as “a well-timed, and perhaps not coincidental, effort to sway some on-the-fence Republicans” to get tough on financial reform.

“Targeting GS, given the flurry of anti-Wall Street press that has centered around that firm, offers the publicity that the administration needs at this critical juncture,” Freeman says in a note to clients today.

He says Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chris Dodd has targeted a vote on the Senate bill for April 26, “and given the short span of time between now and the end of the month, we are not surprised to see the stepped up support for the bill.”

And does the bill even do anything to regulate Fannie and Freddie and address that failure? THE failure that led to it all?

I want us to bring back Glass-Steigall.

I also want us to break up the big banks into smaller ones, like we did with telephone companies. That way, when they fail, it won't impact our economy.

I also don't want any corporation to have a voice in government. This is our country, not theirs. We live here, they just work here.

Why? Lehman and Goldman aren't effected by it, they are investment banks, and neither is Fannie or Freddie.

It is clearly part of his Marxist ideology to attack "Wall St" since it is capitalism at its finest. If he is sucessful it will be another nail (and a big one) in the coffin of US capitalism.

Add Unions to that, and we can discuss it.

Then it's on to political parties.

Oh joy, another Obama road show making stops at all the Potemkin villages to sell us nationalization of another economic sector marketed as financial reform. The Ice Cream Scooper in Chief having appointed a bevy of Goldman Sachs alums to senior economic government posts now campaigns for yet another expansion of Federal government power claiming the difficulty in getting his program enacted is due to Republican obstructionists despite having super-majorities in both houses of Congress.
