Default Donald Trump's head-to-head matchups

A new poll by USA Today--certainly not a pro-Trump mouthpiece--has President Trump, in a head-to-head matchup, defeating all of his Democratic rivals.

The margin ranges from 3 percent (Joe Biden) to 10 percent (Pete Buttigeg).

With the latter, it is possible that name recognition may be a major component.

But who has never heard of Joe Biden?

I will NEVER accept national polls in a presidential election...

At least 10 states are already in the bag for Trump and at least 10 states are already in the bag for anyone but Trump...Whether Trump is up by 5, 10, or 20 or down by 5, 10, or 20 is not only irrelevant for that states' electoral votes, but can sway the national poll depending how many of those polled are from those states...

The polls that matter (a little now, moreso later) are the battleground states...

The 2020 Battleground States

Quote:
In the 2016 presidential election, there were ten states where the margin of victory for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton was less than two percentage points. Combined, those states hold 125 electoral votes.

Although the early consensus forecast suggests fewer states are in play, this is almost certainly the battleground states where the 2020 presidential race will be focused again.

Trump is defending six of these states — Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and North Carolina — which have a total of 101 electoral votes.

The Democratic candidate will be defending four of them — Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Nevada — which have a total of 24 electoral votes. (Clinton actually won just 23 electoral votes in these states, since Maine splits its electoral votes and Trump carried the state’s 2nd congressional district.)

That would suggest Trump has the bigger challenge in 2020. Watching his approval rates in these states — along with head-to-head polling match-ups — will be critical.

Joe who?

one poll says 4 dems beat him another one says hes in the lead

but one thing I know

Bernie would beat him in landslide per usual; and per usual the msm would rather have 4 more years of trump's profiteering than pizz off their corporate sugar daddies

note msm= foxnews, msnbc, cnn, the recently fvcked up nyt and the LA paper to mention a few

(why its a bummer to have almost all the media under one ownership/mindset instead of a free and independent press. )

I am sure that most will remember who the polls said was going to win in 2016 right up until the day of the election. Polls aren't worth the paper they are printed on.

They were predicting the popular vote (rather inexplicably).

And Hillary Clinton did, indeed, win the popular vote--by almost three million votes--but it really did not do her a great deal of good. (Remember President Al Gore? He also won the popular vote, in 2000.)

I think cnredd is onto something important: It is the vote in those swing states that really matters. (To pile up enormous majorities in deep red states or deep blue states is actually a waste of votes.)

Bernie couldn't even beat Hillary. Now President Trump did.

Do the math.
