Default Impeachment

Quote:
Half of Americans support the impeachment of Donald Trump, as the president’s unpopularity reaches a fresh high, according to a new poll.

The Washington Post-ABC News poll also found Mr Trump’s disapproval rating had hit a new level – a full 60 per cent. At the same time, it found a clear majority of Americans supported special counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign,

Impeachment is floating around as a major issue of the November Mid-Term elections. With only a majority in the House required to approve Articles of Impeachment, send the matter to the Senate for hearings and a vote, it is of importance when it comes to who we vote for in November.

Impeachment is a political process and not a criminal prosecution. Grounds must exist but they don't need to depend upon violations of statutory criminal laws and the rules of evidence for prosecution in a court of law do not exist for impeachment. Guilty beyond a reasonable doubt is not the criteria for removal from office because this isn't a criminal prosecution. Probably guilty or even possibly guilty is adequate for impeachment and removal from office. The President, because he/she represents the nation, is also held to a higher standard of conduct than the average American citizen would be.

Republicans know that grounds for impeachment exist and argue that the only way to prevent impeachment is to retain control of the House.

Democrats also know that the grounds for impeachment already exist but argue that impeachment should not be addressed until Robert Mueller completes his investigation.

With what we already know from the news reporting I thought it would be a good idea to list some of the possible/probable articles of impeachment to see which are the most likely to result in the removal of Trump from office.

Make your picks. Multiple choices allowed

Based upon the corruption, brutality, inhumanity, immorality, dishonesty, and incompetence of the Trump administration the White House is the dirtiest house in America and there's no known cleanser that with remove the stains of the Trump Administration.

I thought I'd lead off and while I believe all of the Articles could lead to Trump being removed from office I only picked a few. IMHO Obstruction of Justice and Abuse of Power are the two most likely but any single Article justifies removal from office.

I also selected the "wild card" because I'd argue for inclusion of the following Article of Impeachment:

10. Behavior Unbecoming the President of the United States.

Behavior Unbecoming an Officer" can be the criteria to discharge an officer from the US military and the President should be held to an even higher standard than an officer in the US military.

If no other Article of Impeachment existed this one Article would be ample grounds for removing Trump from office alone.

Democrat leaders like Nancy Pelosi are running away from impeachment as an issue in the midterm elections. Democrat candidates not drunk on the Resistance elixir realize the prospect of hateful Democrats lurching into office with no agenda but to destroy Trump by any means necessary only galvanizes Trump supporter turnout.

If Democrats succeed in taking control of the House their devotion to Resistance hate will make the institution nonfunctional leading to the overreach of impeachment proceedings based on nothing. There is no chance of getting a conviction in the Senate but Democrats will insist on stepping into Trump's counterpunch to satisfy the radical Progressive lunatic fringe ascendant within the party.

I shall vote "other" in the poll. Trump's so-called crime is that he won the election. Resistance Democrats currently in charge of the party perfectly replicate the Stalinist KGB, see my sig.

I didn't vote in the poll because There are no grounds for impeachment wasn't one of the choices offered. This whole impeachment nonsense is due to poor losers whose corrupt choice for president didn't win.

Not being a democrat sycophant is the only grounds for impeachment the democrats have. Impeachment isn't even on the horizon right now.

agreed.

But, If people were looking for real constitutional crimes (high Crimes) though
off the top of my head I'd say

• Attacking foreign countries without congressional approval, declaration of war and going beyond the war powers act.
Syria and Yeman to name 2
(both Obama and WBush committed the same crimes different countries. and deserved impeachment as well)

•continuing the illegal Killing of innocent foreigners and terrorist "suspects" in drone warfare started By W and Obama.

• Trump continuing the illegal use of Obama's "kill list" which includes U.S. citizens abroad without charges or trial.

•overseeing the unconstitutional spying, wiretapping, recording of U.S. citizens without warrants.
(both Obama and WBush committed the same crimes)

but people don't seem to care that the executive branch is acting criminally in those areas... as long as thier party leader does it.
Again those are just 2 sets of impeachable crimes. there are more.
I'll wait for the crickets and/or denials that "president XYZ" was ever in the wrong in the above actions.
Or how the unconstitutional acts were "necessary."

OR, you know, you could read the actual reasons. But I guess you're too busy being super offended by a movie about...

-checks notes-

Neil Armstrong and the moon landing because not enough America.

While Trump's sh-tting on a POW's military service among other things and your tacit support has been noted, there's a whole list of reasons Shiva posted, none of them are "muh feelings".

That's reserved for getting mad at Neil Armstrong biopic.
