Closer to 4 billion years, based upon radiometric age dating.

I believe the earth is about 5 billion years old, judging mainly by the remaining time before the sun goes nova--four and a half billion more years. I call it a SWAG, so don't ask for any physics that are involved.

What point it in's history is the beginning? When it collected as a hot mas of galactic dust and gases?

When it formed a molten orb in orbit of a young sun?

After the collision that formed the moon in a co-existence of two planetoids?

After the earth cooled and formed oceans?

When life began?

When a fish first walked on a beach?

Man became satient or "self aware" with organized societies about 6,000 or so years ago. And so, from the perspective of his own narcissism, that is when the world began.
Did the world we now know begin then?

Astrophysical science and geologist have presumed the earth to be about 4.5 Billion years ago. But, when did it become "The Earth?"

In either case we are talking about how time was measured. Early man had no measure of time as we know it today. Therefore Biblical accounts are questionable. Geology is in stone.

The above sounds like "when does a human life begin?".

Hardly. It is an explanation of Biblical stories which start when Humans begin to retain a history as seen from their perspective. Most likely, humans existed for some 30,000 years previous to becoming "Self Aware."

Much older than 4 million years, so I chose Other. Carbon dating places the age over 3 billion.
