Post AP-NORC Poll: Most Americans oppose funding border wall

Quote:
Trump's spending plans are facing their first test on Capitol Hill, as lawmakers debate his request for $30 billion for an immediate cash infusion for the military and $3 billion for additional border security, including a $1 billion down payment for new fencing and other barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The public opposes new spending for the wall, 58 percent to 28 percent. Nearly half say they strongly oppose funding for the project.
AP-NORC Poll: Most Americans oppose funding border wall

And this is why Repubs need Americans to believe the b.s. allegation that "Mexico will pay" for the wall.

Cause if they don't believe that, people don't want it. By a factor of over 2 to 1.

Trump border wall ask: $1B for 62 miles - CNNPolitics.com
The Trump administration wants the first $1 billion of border wall funding to cover 62 miles -- including replacing some existing fencing along the southern border.

The $999 million requested by the White House in its budget supplement for just defense and border security spending would cover just 48 miles of new wall, according to justification documents from the Department of Homeland Security obtained by CNN.

What's interesting is how, when it comes to things like this, dominos of the left's claims continue to fall.
There were claims of B.S. that Trump would really be building this wall; people were claiming it was just a ruse to get his base to vote for him.
Then his administration started taking bids for it, and one could tell it was an 'oh sh!t' moment for the left, realizing it wasn't B.S. at all.
Now of course, they've moved the goalposts and are applying the BS moniker to Trump's claim that Mexico will pay for it.
Won't be long until that domino will fall as well ...

And it's already been shown how that domino will easily fall ...

So, public support or not of the *United States* funding the wall is a non-issue.
From the article:
How much will the wall cost? Trump has put the price at between $8 billion and $12 billion. Others have suggested it could be higher, between $15 billion and $25 billion. Either way, the full cost would be more than covered in one or two years by the $13 billion in annual revenues we would collect from Mexico. Indeed, over several years, the border adjustment could force Mexico to pay not only for the wall, but for the costs of a lot of Trump’s other border-security measures — from expediting the deportation of criminal aliens to hiring more screeners to conduct “extreme vetting.” In other words, the border adjustment would allow Trump to keep two major campaign promises at once — he could tax imports and subsidize exports, while forcing Mexico to pay for the wall. And here is the really brilliant part: There is nothing Mexico could do about it.

What's boring about your post is the strawman...
You fail to note the details of the situation...

During the election, the left showed concern on this.
After the election, Trump's behavior on this calls his sincerity into question.

That article has already been debunked.

If that's the case, then why won't Repubs put their money where their mouth is?
If Mexico doesn't pay for the wall, then Repubs must agree to pay for the wall.

Are you for real right now?

READ the article I posted:

You're trying to use a January 17th article which incorporates speculation to debunk CURRENT DHS DOCUMENTS.
But regardless, this still puts it back to my original proposal.
If you really think that the wall will only cost between $8 and $12 billion, then will Repubs agree to pony up the rest out of their pockets if it costs more???

I see nothing has changed in that just because someone like you disagreed with an article, you think it's "debunked". LOL

No, rather CNN's SPIN on their claims of current documents (with no link to the documents themselves, which to any normal person, would be a red flag).
Foundit, if you're going to claim something about "CURRENT DHS DOCUMENTS", post the ACTUAL documents or link to them; then we'll talk.

Nah, we'll just keep taking it out of Mexico's revenues as long as is needed.

You're back to thinking being obstinate is an argument...

One of the major problems with that approach is something Repubs talk about when discussing raising taxes on items in the U.S.
The complaint that the cost of the tax will simply be transferred to the consumer buying the product.

Oh yeah. Cause I have DHS reports to the president sitting on my shelf.

There is no "spin" there. You saying "spin" is not an argument.
Interestingly enough, Trump's administration is not even trying to repudiate the information.

I've seen this type of crap from Repubs too many times in the past.
The Iraq war was a perfect example.

Claim that the war will pay for itself and that Iraq has WMDs.
When neither is true, the American taxpayer gets stuck with a HUGE bill.

There is no "spin" there.
So you make an argument about a document that you haven't even read, nor can you provide it. Basically, you saw a piece that said something you liked politically and jumped to post it without even checking to see if it was even valid or not.
Color me unsurprised.
Note to the viewing public: the article on CNN provided on this thread does not even provide a source to be checked. It does not even point to where it got the claim of the number of miles of wall to be built the first year.

Out of curiosity, is this a standard you are making up that you want to apply to everybody else but yourself (or people on your political side)?
Or is this a standard you hold to yourself?

Cause I'm betting it's the first. And I would be happy to bookmark this for relevance in the future...

As usual, you just start making up b.s. as convenient.

Actually, I researched to see what sites were talking about this and it's across the news. It's not just one news organization.
I also looked to see if the White House had repudiated it as false. Interestingly enough, they didn't even try to label it as "fake news".

As I stated, I don't have the DHS article in my possession.
The number of DHS articles I have in my possession is much smaller than the number of DHS articles I don't have in my possession. I believe that is the same for most people.

You don't want to accept the article. I get that.
You throw out some flimsy excuses and refuse to look at the overall picture. I get that too.

NOT ONCE in this discussion have you put up an honest discussion of the information at hand...
Which is of no surprise to anybody...

President Trump's border wall could trap some US residents on Mexican side

A misleading title. It might put some property owned by USA citizens on the Mexican side of the wall. Every example I've seen it was not a question of the persons being on the Mexican side but some of their property. And even if Factually True,,,,; So What?

There are places where the Rio Grande has changed course and put Mexican land on our side and vice versa. Again, So What?
And what does any of that have to do with the "Funding" Issue.

Truth is, A majority of Americans want a more secure border. But less than a majority want to pay for a huge wall. I know I don't.
